If you like psychedelic and "full" music, you'll like Halley's album "Forget the Leaves, Autumn Will Change."
Some progressive if you get into Radiohead: Broken Social Scene - self-titled album, Grandaddy The Sophtware Slump, Sumday, Under the Western freeway, all good albums.
If you get into Mars Volta, you have to check out At the Drive-In - Relationship of Command, and In-Casino-Out, the beginning of the end of a great band before they split and formed Mars Volta.

Don't know if they made it in America (I assume your American) but if you've not heard of them Oasis are well worth checking out.
If you like metal check out bands like Gamma Ray, Sonata Arctica, Helloween, Freedom Call and Nightwish. Trivium are pretty good as well.

I've said it on this site before, if you've never heard "Eek-A-Mouse", check out his greatest hits CD.

Robert Johnson is great stuff - good, old-fashioned, unadulterated blues. His athletic guitar playing heavily inspired guitar heroes like Clapton and Page.

Check out "Black Label Society". (If you haven't already) Zakk Wylde is like the greatest guitarist alive, (Ozzy's guitarist) and he sings alright, too. Check out "The blessed Hellride", or "Hangover music Vol 6". (More mellow than The Blessed Hellride) Both are good, though. I also have "1919 Eternal" By BLS, but I like the others a bit better.

if you want some good metal:
Amon Amarth - Versus The World (sort of epic death metal, not sure how to describe it, AMAZING though)
In Flames - Reroute To Remain or Soundtrack To Your Escape
Nightwish - Once
Dark Tranquillity - Projector
Leaves Eyes - Vinland Saga (first 2 songs aren't that great, but after that the album is awsome. it combines the styles of Liv Kristine who did metal and pop, and Alexander Krull who does death metal, and sings once and a while)
Rammstein - Mutter

Amon Amarth - Versus The World (sort of epic death metal, not sure how to describe it, AMAZING though)
Amon Amarth fucking rule, other good metal bands include Behemoth, American Headcharge (The war of art was a very good album imo), Opeth (Deliverance and Still Life are great albums), Old Mans Child and At the Gates

I really like the mars volta, check out the album "Deloused in the Crematorium", awesome album when stoned. I highly recomend Muse too

Amon Amarth - Versus The World (sort of epic death metal, not sure how to describe it, AMAZING though)That would be melodic death metal with viking metal lyrics. Judging from those bands, you should check out "At The Gates" if you haven't already. You won't be disappointed, promise. ;)
What kind of metal are you into, thread maker? It's an incredibly diverse (set of) genre(s), so it'd be hard to give you bands you'd like unless I knew what you were already into. I watched Headbanger's Ball for the first time tonight (MTV2), and they had a few great bands. Check that out for metal.
Don't know if they made it in America (I assume your American) but if you've not heard of them Oasis are well worth checking out.Oasis is British, lol.
As for me, the newest band I'm listening to is called 10 Years (as of maybe an hour ago). I heard their song on the radio, so I'm assuming they're going to be huge.
Here's some of my favorite music as of late (past couple months):
Death metal:
Vital Remains
Cryptopsy
Decapitated
Cannibal Corpse
Immolation
Nile
Psycroptic
Soilent Green (I know, I know, they're a hybrid)
Melodic death:
At The Gates
Amon Amarth
In Flames (esp. December Flower)
Groove:
Pantera
Pissing Razors
Machine Head
Drum & Bass (electronic ;) )
High Contrast (Probably aren't any jungle fans on this site, but if you're out there, GET "HIGH SOCIETY" BY THIS PRODUCER!)
Dieselboy (D.J.)
D.J. Dara
Emo:
Matchbook Romance
My Chemical Romance
Something Corporate
Punk:
Kid Dynamite (awesome, get this if you're into punk)
Pulley
Rise Against
Strike Anywhere
Pennywise
I was going to go on until I realized nobody's going to check these out. Hahaha - later!

I thought you wanted to discover new "music" as opposed to new "bands". Check "The Headhunters" for some cool jazz.
