herb grinders

so i'm waiting for a couple pieces including an herb grinder to come in soon, but until then, wanted to know what alternatives are there to just picking it apart by hand?

scissors, razor, or a coffee grinder but you will need a fine screen for that one.

how do you do the shot glass method? anyone?
