Can somebody explain to me why the **** my one-hitter works sooo great?

It blows my mind man. The other night I had just gotten finished rolling my ounce of weed into joints. (I realize it degrades quality, but I like to have them readily smokable. It gives me a taste of how it'll be once it's legal.)

When I finished rolling the last joint, I had just enough weed left on the tray to load my one-hitter. I decided to do so. I didn't feel like going up in my attic, so I just made an identical one out of an identical pen that I had in my pocket from school. I've been smoking the exact same weed for awhile, so I know that exactly one joint is the magic recipe to get me as high as I'd like to be off of it.

And that's exactly how high a ingle load of my one-hitter got me. I was amazed.

It was freshly made, which means I'm not smoking resin. What gives?

The velocity of any intoxicant entering your body is substantial to the amount of actual high. Do a shot really fast and drink it over the course of a minute, and you get completely different results. Same with THC.

It is most likely that as you hit it you get a good smoke to air ratio. This is incredibly compressed as you get higher airflow that is hotter. Hot air dances around liek crazy, as does anything in it. So you get the smoke moving more in your lungs as well.

The blood vessels on the... air sacs (what is the word?) in your lungs are having all this put on them so you get much more THC from your grass. So it's not making it more powerful. It's just bringing out the full capability of your weed.

Which is why gravity/waterfall bongs get you so incredibly high. The air is more compressed and such.

I also believe that the colder the air is to start with, the better the hits are. I get much higher in cold weather. So do all of my friends. Can be the same stash, but it just seems to work that way.

So we're kinda applying engine intake principles here. Lots of air, but still enough smoke in the hit to keep you happy. The little ball-screen you made is most likely contributing much to your great pipe. Lots of air gets around the bud and cherry.

Sorry I'm rambling. But anyhow, yeah.

Also, my brother talks of his infamous "autocarb experience." Supposedly, He took a very large bong with a removable stem and rubber-sealable stem insert and drilled a hole in it and managed to hook up an oxygen tank to it. From his account he'd fill up this much-too-massive (think gallons) with a very huge bowl, seal it off, and he and his friends would take turns clicking the tapered valve he had on this bong to push the air in automatically.

I don't know about this though... What do you guys think?

/\/\ Good idea, but seems like a lot of effort. Maybe if you wanted the absolute biggest hit, no expense spared. I think a gravity bong would get you most of the way to an "autocarb." Then again, if you have a couple oxygen tanks lying around....

The idea is getting one of those good, shiny (most likely aluminum) pens and jamming the pointed end backwards into the tip, removing the guts, and using a twist-tie in a wad as a gnarly screen. That screen does 80% of the talkign here, making a very nice mixture of air. I just tried that on my pipe and as of now I'm fairly stoned. Just a few minutes have passed.

The bowl/screen combo is key.

Also, joints tend to be inefficient when smoking solo, so you may not be smoking quite so much as you think you are each time you smoke a J.

I've got homework and shit, but when I get done I'll post some simplified instructions, in step form. Shouldn't be but 30 minutes. I really want someone to make it so they'll see what I mean. I love it.

The kief is an excellent point. I didn't consider that. However, even without the kief, a single load still ****s me up.

I think I get it. Like this? Yes, unless the pointed end is supposed to be your illustration of the cone. The cone should be on the end with the weed and screen on it. (As it actually CONTAINS the weed and the screen)

its a good idea but its better to find a metal tip that has a really small hole as opposed to your unique screen idea, the metal in twist ties is very malleable(bendy) and most malleable metals have a low burning point, and even if its not burning my bet is its giving off nasty toxins.

An even better thing to do would be to go and pick up a glass one hitter from a shop cause then all your smoking is weed and it tastes 50 times better, plus its been proven that even though the lighter flame is not directly on the plastic the smoke is still hot enough to activate narsty chems in the plastic which we all no is a bad thing

but a pen pipe was my first smoking device i ever made and i know that they do get the job done pretty well

true.. but is the pen tube not plastic? thats what i meant and mostly all materials give off some kind of waste products from burning except a nice peice of glass :D

A one hitter usually does not have a bowl, simply a cavity at the end of a hollow tube.

here is a one-hitter I made out of an instrument cable end and a pen tip, i also used the twist tie screen, but I havent been able to smoke from it yet cause everyone I know is dry :mad:
