So as the Canadians here know, there's a federal election here on January 23rd. I'm very excited since I missed the last one, so this is my first time voting (federally). anyway, I'm planning to vote NDP. problem is, my ENTIRE family votes conservative. my parents, sister, grandmother, all my 8 uncles (2 of which are CP members). and my dad is so bent on his political opinions that it's sacrelige in my house to vote NDP.
Now I find out we can vote for our party at any time before the election at the party's headquarters. So of course my dad's all "hey mike, we gotta get down the the conservative party HQ and put in our vote!". ARGH! I had a nice little plan where I'd just say I'm voting conservative and secretly vote NDP, but I know he'll want to drive me down there to vote conservative pretty soon.
and so I think of 2 questions to you all:
1. Anybody here have to deal with a family like this? be the political plack sheep, in secret or out loud?
and
2. any ideas how to squirm out of this?
