what watt hps will I need for veg stage

am starting to grow using lights + have realised hps is teh best what watt will be good enuff to grow a few females. I'm think of buying a 400 watt but I can buy a 70 watt too , which I thought I could use for the flowering stage

You probably dont need all the way to 400 if you only have a few plants. You could probably get by with a 250 watt with just about as good of results as a 400 if it is a small grow area.

ok will 400 watts burn alot of energy compared to a 250 and can I use a regular timer switch on a 400

It will over time eventually use more energy especially in the veg state when it is 18 hrs on. I dont see why you couldnt use a regular timer switch on it, at least I hope you can cause I am planning on that for my setup.

For only a few plants all you need is one 250 HPS.Its the only Light youll need.You can use it during veg and its a great light to use during flowering.

toolate I have a 400 hps now and a 100 hps so gonns us ethe 400 for 2 pfemales flowerin + the 100 for veggin a few other still in veg + new seedlings
