View Full Version : You poor poor girls of Prom age.

My daughter received a catalog today from some company that sells prom dresses. (mind you my daughter is a bit overweight) and I noticed on the cover that some SI swimsuit model was modeling the designs. So I took a look and lo and behold I now know why. Because about half of those dresses were so hooker-like that the models had to be over 18 to avoid prosecution. Of course, they are all perfectly gorgeous women with almost no bodyfat and probably eating disorders to boot. I feel sorry for all of you young ladies that have to go through this shit.
I know there are a few of you girls that would look entirely gorgeous in those dresses but come on...it's a prom not a porn convention. And if my daughter wanted to go to a prom (even if she was slender) dressed like Mariah Carey of Cher...not gonna happen.

Why do you keep mentioning your daughters over weight...

You should'nt care if your own child is over weight or not.

Why do you keep mentioning your daughters over weight...

You should'nt care if your own child is over weight or not.

For a couple of reasons...first, when girls who are overweight look at dresses like that, it makes them feel bad cuz they can't/don't look like that. (or when they try, it can be a bit of a disaster..how may times have you seen heavy women in spandex or midriff exposing tops and hip huggers...not pretty) Second, I do care, not because it makes her less of a person but because I know it makes her feel bad, self esteem and all that. Third, any parent should be concerned if their kids are over or underweight. It's not generally considered healthy. I didn't mean to imply that I was overly upset about it and I love her no matter what. She has a million other qualities that exceed any of her faults. Fourth, teenage girls(and boys) are exceptionally evil when it comes to demeaning each other, which most people get over, but some never do. Kids can be cruel as evidenced by an earlier thread I came across on this board about laughing at the special needs kids in school.
And fifth, it's the whole thing about the perception of beauty in our culture and the effect it has on young people. (and older folks too...hence the huge market for beauty products, cosmetic surgery, lipo, etc etc etc)
Hope that clears it up a bit.

Ya know Beach, she's just kooky enough to wear a cinderella dress and cute enough to get away with it as well.

But where are the girls of CC?? This thread was supposed to be for them, not you clown boxing fools. Speak up ladies!! Let's get some imput here. BabyFace, Sensi, all the rest...come on ladies!!

Rawr, here I am.

I'm going to prom in a tutu and combat boots. I say fuck the stereotype that all chicks gotta be 97 lbs and 5'11. That's not me. I love my body and while I'm not Lindsay Lohan i.e anorexic, I'm still pretty fuckin' hot. Haha, no but seriously..I hate dress shopping, or clothes shopping for that matter because of all the hype about how you have to dress/look a certian way. I don't feel comfortable in skirts 2 inches from my cooter and shirts that might as well be a thong.

BUT the dresses are made to attract the boys at prom, I mean come on..almost ever teen at prom is going to go to some beach house or a hotel..get smashed and sexed up. It's kind of like, right of passage.

The thing with dress shopping is though, it seems hopeless for like, weeks, and then when you think you aren't going to get a dress and just stay at home watching I Love Lucy re-runs or something, you find the perfect dress and are all excited again.

Fuck girls having to get dresses to look like a whore! What about the crimes against men!? Going to prom a dude is expected to pay for a meal, gas, a tuxedo, a limo if he so chooses, and those corney flower things, a ton of shit. giving up your dignity to me is not as bad as paying a company 300 bucks to wear their suit for a night!

fuck prom man i never went to it i ended up getting wasted at the after parties and had enough cash to buy my own shit later. And as for prom dresses being attractive on girls not to me im more into normal clothing and chicks with mohawks stretched ear lobes and tattoos... hell yea!

No offense but girls have a lot more pressure on them when it comes to formal events. A guy can walk into prom in button up shirt and a tie and still be considered dressed alright. A girl can't walk into prom in some casual summer dress or anything, it's not that easy. The amount of money girls spend on prom is probably WAY more than guys. Guys can just rent a tux anyway, not many girls can rent or want to rent a dress, a lot of girls pay for a limo (or make it a group thing), hair/makeup/nails costs way too much. A set of acrylic nails costs 50$, hair can cost anywhere from 80-300$ depending on what you're getting done. I don't know much about makeup. Prom dresses are insanely expensive and occasionally girls get WEDDING dresses as prom dersses. I mean, it's some crazy shit. If I'm gonna be dancing and having fun all night long I don't want to wear an uncomfortable dress t hat's just going to be beer/vomit/cum stained in the morning.

yea i know that was a semi sarcastic joke, but ill never understand why girls do all thatr stuff, all my life ive never cared about my appearance. the last 2 years of high school i only owned 2 pairs of pants and got made fun of often... yea girls got it bad but the dont have to conform to the mob, read the book Branded, im reading it right now for my english comp class and it will seriously make you look in the mirror and see yourself for the first time if you are all into style

BabyFacedAbortion
01-11-2006, 07:29 PM
I'd tell you guys why we do it but I'm really not sure. I use makeup because I think I look better with it, I dress a certian way because I'm comfortable that way, I used to get my nails done because I liked how they looked. Every girl is different though, someone may spend 3583058 billion dollars on prom because their mother/father wants them to, or someone may get their hair/nails/makeup done because they feel like they have to fit a certian standard. There's too many reasons to just try and say a few.

I never went to my proms either...no date and no money(probably spent on weed) And because I was too cool to waste my time on some damned dance. On the other hand, might have been fun. Besides...far too white and Irish to be dancing. And if my baby wants to go to the prom...she will. :)

Anyhow, I went to my prom. I went with my then girlfriend, who- Though I care for her very much, WAS a bit zoftig- and she looked amazing. She and her mom are both slightly overweight, and they went dress shopping together until they found the perfect Cinderella type dress. Big girls usually have some tig ol bitties, and if they want to feel sexy, a push-up cinderella dress'll do it (and get the attention she wants to boot), while still retaining her modesty and making sure she's comfortable.

My advice is to skip the whole thing. I didn't make any big memories, I just got drunk, laid and passed out. BIG FUN.

I agree about the openness. My kids have been pretty open about that stuff with me and the spousal unit. And we have been open with them about our views, values and expectations of them. So far it's been a pretty good run, no one arrested, (ok, one of the sons "forgot" to pay a ticket and went in to pay it one day late, same day the bench warrant was to go in to effect, got a bit lippy with the judge who could have let him pay and leave but slapped his ass in the clink for the day,...and yes we bailed his ass out).
But no matter how open they are, they never tell you everything. Especially when it comes to a sexual assault.
My advice to you as a 14yr old, hold her hair when she pukes but don't bang her unless she's sober and willing or you'd better hope the cops find you before her big brothers do. ;)

He'd off himself.

I don't think parents really WANT to know what happens behind their backs, vs. that they actually DON'T know.

Honestly though, it doesn't matter how "supportive" you are of your child, they still won't come to you for everything. My mom and I are best friends but I don't think I'll ever tell her that like, I was just banging my boyfriend and smoking a blunt while she was in the next room. Kids DO want to save their parent's sanity for the most part.

Yes..the pressures are getting harder on girls.

I mean come on have you seen that Brats shit for little bitty girls. My sister has always been over weight her whole lifeâ?¦.she has tried so very hard to loose the weight. Me on the other hand have always been slinder my whole life â?¦.I did put on some weight after my baby but Iâ??m still not fat. I know how hard it has been for her even though she doesnâ??t like to show it but I can still see her hurt by it. It makes me feel bad that the is not treated the same as me (not by our family of course) but by the general public. Youâ??re right itâ??s not fair.

Hey Bonz...remember this one. It was one of me and my ladies favorites at that time! These kids think that this is something new?????

Broken Hearts are for Assholes-Frank Zappa

Hey! do you know what you are?
Youâ??re an asshole! an asshole!

Some of you might not agree
â??cause you probably likes a lot of misery
But think a while and you will see...
Broken hearts are for assholes
Broken hearts are for assholes
Are you an asshole?
Broken hearts are for assholes
Are you an asshole too?
Whatcha gonna do, â??cause youâ??re an asshole...

Maybe you think youâ??re a lonely guy
Maybe you think youâ??re too tough to cry
So you went to the grape,
Just to give it a try
And dagmar
Without a doubt, the ugliest sonofabitch I ever saw in my life
Was his name...
One two three four!
The whiskers sticking out from underneath of his
Pancake make-up
And yet he was a beautiful lady
Nearly drove you insane
Letâ??s talk about leather: leatherrrrrr
And so you kissed a little sailor
Tex abel, starring in the latest shepperton production:
Who had just blew in from spain
Sir richard pump-a-loaf
You sniffed the reeking buns of angel
The story of a demented bread-boffer
And acted like it was cocaine
Cucumber pud annexed to a fine whole-wheat loaf
You were dazzled by the exciting new costume of ko-ko
Then on tuesday night, ceasarâ??s back in town
In a way you canâ??t explain
Facing off in a no-holds-barred tag team grudge match
With kona.
And so you worked the wall with michael
Three-hundred-seventy-nine pounds of samoan dynamite
Which gave your back an awful strain
Volcanic hell
But you came back on sunday for the gong show
Next thursday, teen townâ??s finest...
But you forgot what I was sayinâ??
â??cause youâ??re an asshole, youâ??re an asshole
Thatâ??s right
Youâ??re an asshole, youâ??re an asshole
Yes, yes
Youâ??re an asshole, youâ??re an asshole
Thatâ??s right
Youâ??re an asshole, youâ??re an asshole

Now you been to the grape â??nâ?? you been to the chest
â??nâ?? now I think you know what you are: youâ??re an asshole

You say you canâ??t live with what you been through
Well, ladies you can be an asshole too
You might pretend you ainâ??t got one on the bottom of you,
But donâ??t fool yerself girl
Itâ??s lookinâ?? at you
Donâ??t fool yerself girl
Itâ??s winkinâ?? at you
Donâ??t fool yerself girl
Itâ??s blinkinâ?? at you
Thatâ??s why I say
Iâ??m gonna ram it, ram it, ram it
Ram it up yer poop chute
Corn hole
Ram it, ram it, ram it
Ram it up yer poop chute
Fist fuck
Ram it, ram it, ram it
Ram it up yer poop chute
Wrist-watch; crisco
Ram it, ram it, ram it
Ram it up yer poop chute
Pud!

Donâ??t fool yerself, girl
Itâ??s goinâ?? right up yer poop chute
Donâ??t fool yerself, girl
Itâ??s goinâ?? right up yer poop chute
(etc., repeats)

Aw, I knew youâ??d be surprised...

Every generation thinks it is new and different. I know we did. And in a lot of ways we were. But not when it comes to "the old in/out" (that was a great movie by the way) That will never change until such time as the psycho feminazi's get their way and figure out how to give men a uterus.

Wouldn't be the first time my mouth got me in trouble. I've spent the last 23 years in corporate america and that's probably the worst aspect of it. Trying not to offend anyone. And since it's in my nature to push it as far as I can in situations like that, I have had a couple of close ones. Most recently for repeating what was common knowledge while hanging in the smokers area. One of our call center gals showed up on halloween in a rather revealing constume and was told in no uncertain terms by several supervisors and HR that it was a bit inappropriate for the office. I was overheard repeating this to someone else (after I'd heard it from 5 other people) by one of her buddies and the next thing I know my boss is grilling me about the incident. Some days I really hate people.

I donâ??t know about the uterusâ?¦.we have our own.

And men on the ragâ?¦no thanks.

But I do think there is an attempt (deliberate or not) to emasculate our young men. Due I think in large part because fathers are not around to help raise their young sons (or daughters for that matter.)
