I love horror films! I bought The Exorcist last night and was shitting myself!
Dark room + nobody else around + fat joint + Reagan = not good.

The Ring was disturbing (preferred the American one) and The Shining is excellent too (apparantly it has the formula for the perfect horror movie)

When I was a little girl, my (drunk) gran let me watch Pet Semetary and I was up screaming in the middle of the night, Zelda terrified me!

Y, The Shining was a creepy one for me too.

The Grudge, English vers. I guess, with the Sarah Gellar girl in there, freaked me out! Not the movie itself, but the damn freaky kid who meows like a cat! Very disturbing for me

The Shining is the only film to actually freak me out, the rest of em seem to go on the 'look she's lookin around in the dark, its quiet, or theres quiet suspenseful music, the camera circles the silly bitch, nobodies there and, BANG!, the cat, or the fukin boyfriend or sum shite jumps out followed by a very loud orchestra of violins goin DUUUUUUUUH!!!!!, and then she's like 'oh muffy, u scared me girl' then while she is assumin she safe seein to the cat or boyfriend, she gets a tomahawk to the back of the head followed by an even bigger violin orchestra, makin an even bigger DUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUH!!' but they do scare u when ure a kid cuz u don't begin to piece together these wank ideas until u see many horror movies, then they cross over an become funny. But The Shining generally fucks with my head, cuz they try to tell a story it jus happens to be fucked up, and Jack Nicholson is an intimidatin man. Sorry I watched sum crap horror yesterday, had to get that off my chest.

Movies don't exactly get to me.. The Grugde (american) got me a little on the edge of the chair... And Dark Water, (Japanese) got me from my head, to my toes.. Also bit me in the ass once or twice..

Those other movies, The Ring and all of the others mentiond above, got me laughing my ass of!!:D Probably because I was a little drunk..:p

Freddy Cruger, was a big disapointment.. More like a bad comedy in my opinion.. "A COMEDY GONE HORRILBY WRONG":p

An 80's horror movie I saw when I was 7 called THE GATE. I've didn't watch another horror film for about a decade after seeing that movie. It scared me so much I should probably have gone to a phsyciatrist or something.

Silence of the Lambs. Not the whole thing, mind you. The part where they find that guard crucified on the cage. I was like 5 or something and that scared the piss outta me.

And nothing pisses me off more than little kids being non-descriptive in horror movies. Like, the parents need to know who skinned the dog alive and the dumb little fuckers are just like, "The man did."

Oh, the man. Thanks. Thanks for all your help. Dumb little skank. GET A JOB!

I liked the first Alien flick. It was released in '79 and a lot of folks went to see it for the sci fi aspect but got the shit scared out of them. It was filmed in the true horror/suspense genre in part by not allowing a good view of the alien until the end of the movie. Only a quick glance from time to time or a shadow or a tail just before the kill. I was on the edge of my seat through most of the movie the first time I saw it and it takes a lot to cut through the haze in my brain. Most horror films(and all the other genre's as well) are so predictable it's ridiculous. And it's beginning to take a toll on Hollywoods wallet. Which is funny.

king kong bong
01-10-2006, 08:34 AM
i know what you mean bonsai, they dont leave anything up to imagination anymore. they want to explain everything. the reason i dug the original dawn of the dead is cuz they never explained where "it" came from. it was totally left up to the viewer.

bonsaiguy
01-10-2006, 08:40 AM
I don't think they ever answered that question in the alien movies. I suppose that will be the next sequel...Alien 5(or whatever they're up to):Birthplace..or Origins or something like that. That way they don't have to pay for Sigourney to come back yet again.

king kong bong

Haven't really seen any movies that have "scared" me but there are movies that could be considered scary but because of their plots and their concept other then actually "scares".

Dead Ringers is a fucked up movie... That is one that just came to mind. It is truly fucked, but I can't think of anymore. There is alot of fucked up movies. The Shining has been mentioned... one of the best horror movies, in my opinion. Um... Night of the Hunter is a classic "scary" movie, but not with monsters and paranormal stuff. Just a scary murdering priest. Other good "scary" movies I see were mentioned are Aliens, The Thing (Remake), Silence of the Lambs and fuck yeah... another one I thought of... The Vanishing. FUCKED-UP MOVIE and a mind-bender as well. There are tons but it's rare to find a GOOD movie these days... one that's new anyway. Comedies are the only movies that are going any where in this industry because a Comedy can be as ignorant as the producer wants... the script or the directing or the acting can be as shitty as the producer wants, because as long as it's funny, it's good. Horror moves these days just aren't scary.

Films don't have direction now. Appearntly, a films quality is now based on either sales or popularity. And with films being directionless now, movies are just being shot out of a machines back-end and marketed to these teens.

I HATE horror films, but when I was about 15 and just seriously getting into religion, I decided to watch The Exorcist (the 2000 edition) on my own. At 1 in the morning, with the lights off. I had nightmares for months, and when I was watching it I kept looking over my shoulder just to check that there was'nt some freaky 9 year old in pyjamas with green eyes standing behind me.
Torture for me is not cutting my bollocks off - it's having to watch The Exorcist on mushrooms.

That scared the bejeesus out of me. Actually, the whole film did. I think the worst parts were the injection/needle bits (I faint when I have an injection), and when the little girl does all the zombie groans.
