I dunno how many of you on here still read books occasionally but here goes...

My girlfriend works at Waterstones (a British book shop branch) and gets free books pretty much whenever she wants, so she's been giving me a shitload in a bid to get me reading more and playing less prince of persia.
At the moment i'm reading a book called 'Man's search for meaning', which is in the most basic of words, a book about how a human being finds reason to carry on living in the worst environment imaginable (Auschwitz).

The crazy thing is, when I read this deep shit when i'm high, the words settle on my brain like snowflakes. It seems to make so much sense compared to when I read it sober, in which case I occasionally have to go over sentences twice to confirm my understanding of them.

Anyone read philosophy when their stoned and find they have the same experience? I thought it was only harder drugs like Opium that help you do that.

(PS: Halo is not a piece of philosophical literature)

Ye I read scientific literature, and bein stoned helps me way more wiv visualising the abstract shite they ramble on about, good analogy with it fallin on the brain like snowflakes, poetic man lol. Einstein and QM mixed with ganja is a trip in itself, sumtimes I get so out of it I jus stare off in to space, my mind showing me all these fuckin mad interpretations. God Bless the inebriated mind. :D

Man, The Halo books are actually pretty good.

Right now I'm reading The Handmaid's Tale. I tried to borrow Oryx and Crake from Steph, but this was all she had. It's a bit too feminist for my tastes but I'm enjoying it. I just finished "Killing Yourself to Live: 85% of a True Story." It was a really easy, interesting read. Everyone who posts here should read it. Preview and Buy it here. Now, this book is a fucking trip.
"Top Dog"
I read it a few years ago, I can't even describe it. It's about a guy who wakes up as a dog in this fantasy world. In it you are either good or evil, and there are crazy battles and monsters and stuff. It's a great story about morality. Preview or Buy here.
