Public schools on average spend more money per student
than it cost to send a child to a non-public school. The idea
that "rich" people get a better education because they are rich is bullshit. They get a better education because most of them have set high standards for them selves and thier children. In addition to that they have the decipline to stick with education even if it's "hard".

You see playing this game of class envy, and blaming the system for the level of education you or your children do or do not get is a cop-out. Parents who take an active role in the education of thier children will have smart children, if you just sit back and say "We are not spending enough on education and that's why my kid is failing" you will end up teaching your children how to find excusess for their failures in life rather than searching for ways to succeed in thier endevors.

Many great men and women have been products of public schools. They recieved a good education and then went on to do extrodinary things with thier lives, and it's not because they had a "Priviet School" education, it's because they took responsablity for thier education and lives and made somthing out of themsevles.

You see, I have children and no I am not rich. I make under 30,000 a year. My wife and I take an active role in our childrens education and as a result we have smart little girls. We don't let them give up when they are having a hard time with math problem, reading comprehension, spelling, fill in the blank. At the same time though we are there to help if it's something they need a hand with. And above all......They are acountable for thier actions, achievements, or lack there of. We make sure they have all the tools nessicary to succeed and then it's up to them to do so.

kids are like animals, you cant cram a bunch of animals together and expect them not to start killing each other. kids might not go that far... myabe, who knows these days, but they arent going to be focused worth a fuck, and that gets them in trouble.


it's just like western medicine, dont cure the disease, fight the symptoms and capitolize on the perscription. like school, dont bother combating the SOURCE of lowered education and concentration levels, just punish the kids for not being focused, and call them dumb.

Your right, smaller class sizes do help out tramendously. Your also correct about the schools not caring, it's all about
making money for them. The answer: pull government funding.

Now I know this sounds drastic, but if the parents
held the teachers, schools and administrators reponsable for the job they do or don't do well they would be forced to
raise the bar and alot of things would change for the positive.

Your probably wondering how pulling government funding would solve this. You see if parents had to fund thier childs education by writing a check every month rather than having the government pull it out of your pay check, property tax, food tax, gas tax and many other places the government steals our money from us at the point of a gun, then they would hold the schools responsable for thier performance.

That's why priviet schools work, because the parents are looking at it right.....thier paying for a service and expect a product that reflects the price they are ask to pay....where as in public schools they (read government here) have got us so used to taxes that we believe the lie that public education is free to us. It's not. We pay for it in taxes and it's time we held them responsable for taking our money and not providing a good product.

I apolagize if I sounded like I was jumping on you. That wasn't my intention. I think from the sound of your post we hold the same opinion when it comes to this issue and that is: Lets fix this big broken machine called public education so future children have the best oppertunity to succeed in life. That gives me a crazy great idea. So nowadays there's a website like epinions and reviewcentre for material stuff that you buy. I think there should be a website where you can rate actual people. Like a warning device for extreme FUCK UPS like the one Birdgirl was talking about. But it can go the other way and you can give praise to people who deserve it too.
