So as some of you know I run a website similar to this one. :) Recently I was
brainstorming on where to get more members. I've attempted to advertise on
these websites and never seem to get a response regarding advertising, etc.

One method of attracting more members is to optimize a website for search
engines. When you use vbulletin, a message software like cannabis.com
uses, it can cause problems for search engines.

vbseo has made a product for $200 that will optimize your vbulletin script. I
kept reading more and more about the product and finally right before
Christmas I made a $200 purchase so that I can be better ranked in the
search engines.

About 24 hours later I receive a message saying that I will not be getting my
software because it does not meet their terms of service because my site is
a marijuana website. I was very angry and tried to understand but all I was
able to find out is that their user agreement says the software can not be
used for adult sites. I hadn't noticed this before making the purchase, but
regardless I can now not use the software or even download it.

I was told that I could either use it on another one of my websites or not at
all. :(

Isn't this bullshit?

omg dude that sucks! that is such bs! it also seems kind of... off. is that legal to deny things to certain customers? seems like it interferes with free speech or something. maybe write back with some kind of lawyer threat, haha

True, marijuana is NOT classed as adult oriented material - and a site like this can be classed as an informational site, like Erowid and the like.
Try putting a disclaimer at the bottom stating 'This site and all writing pertained on it is for informational purposes only, I do not condone illegal use of marijuana' yadda yadda waffle waffle...
And if they still tell you to feck off, see a solicitor about it.
