View Full Version : Healthy Alternatives to smoking weed?

Hi Everyone,
I'm new here (obviously), and I've had a burning question I've needed to ask for ages. Which is, are there any healthy alternatives to smoking weed, but which give you the same effect for the same time period?
I'm only an occasional smoker (I used to smoke a minimum of 8 a day in Fiji, and it just got boring after a while), and I constantly have the guilt pangs of screwing up my lungs. I've been told eating it is slow to come on, unpredicatable, and can end up messsing with your head for days. Not an option I care to try.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, I do so love getting stoned, but don't want to be smoking myself to death either.
There's this method called vaporisation.....it uses a vaporiser and just heat the weed up enough for the thc to become active...so your not actually inhaling all the plant matter...
do a search on here or google it and im sure you will find more infomation on it

Cooking and eating with it :D
Keeps you high for longer too, and it realises something like Delta-9 stuff which is more hallucinogenic than when smoked.
Ok, I've just read your post properly and seen you don't want to eat it... do what Az. said and vapourise :D

No, there isn't really anything else that is close to MJ.
MJ smoke is not that harsh on your lungs either. There has never been a reported case of cancer from a cannabis smoker only, not does it contain as much tar as a cigg (despite what "doctors" say). It does do slight damage, but nothing that is life threatening in the long, or short run.
If you like the effects of cannabis, have you considered vaporizing? That would be a good alternative in your case if you're worried about damage on your lungs.
I've been smoking cannabis for about 5yrs now, not everyday, but at least twice a week, and my lungs are fine. Maybe not as healthy as most, but I certainly don't have coughing fits or cough up lung butter.
Peace :rasta:

He said he didnt want to eat it. If eaten the amount consumed is very hard to control. Vapourising is the best method I believe. I have one its called a Vapureyes it cost £90 ($170).
But NEVER EVER buy a cheap vapouriser they DO NOT work and will put you off vapourising.

Ok. Here is what I think.
When you smoke 1 or 2 bowls a day, its just like if you smoked 5 cigs, maybe not even that much. So why being scared of getting cancer or whatever just because you smoke weed?
You have 1 life, just do what you want and what you love. I prefer to die at 70 than to die 20 years later. I know anyway that I'll pass these 20 years in a chair waiting for the time to pass.
Just smoke moderatly and everythin will be good. Oh and if you dont want to get a cancer, stop using a cellular, stop eatin transgenic food, stop smoking, stop using a microwave, etc

Oi, vaporizing it should do the trick for ya like Az said..
3 shits had vry interesting point i had no idea about releasing additional hallucinagenic properties :)
Cannabis is unique. There may be some other substances you could smoke that would be vaguely similar but they are inferior.
There is a spray form of it in production in Canada. Not a viable option yet...Marinol is the pill form of cannabis but it is weak and difficult to find.

Wow, that was a quick responce, thank you all. Too many replies to deal with at once, so I'll reply generically. :)
Vaporising looks like a viable option; I do wonder though, wouldn't it clog your lungs up with tar/oil just the same? It's good that I wouldn't be burning my lungs, but wouldn't you still have the same problem of filling you lungs up with impurities?
I'm not so worried about cancer, but more my general health. I'm quite the fitness fanatic at the moment, and I really can tell the difference in my perfomence when I've had a few smokes in the previous days. I like the sound of the spray form too, is that based on the sprays they have been using in clinical trials, which go on the back of the tongue? I've also seen them using nasal sprays which seems like a good alternative as well.
Thanks again everyone, munchies for thought to coin a phrase. :D

No. The only thing you inhale when vapourizing is pure thc vapour. There are no carcinagenics. I thought the spray didn't have any 'high' effects? Trust me man. Vapourization is the way to go.

That sounds amazing if that's the case, thanks everyone I'm going to have to look into it. As far as sprays go, I imagine they do what they can to minimalise the 'high' effect as it's currently only used for medical trials, as far as I know, but I imagine the delivery princible is the same.
If you do decide to get a vaporizer do as Who's Carl said and go for one of the more pricy ones....i have never vaporized personally...but i have read numerous posts on here about the cheaper vaps being a waste of money and the more expensive ones being well worth every penny.....and i warn you they can get pricey!

I've just been reading about vapourisers, and they do sound as good as everyone says. The only thing is, they say you don't get as stoned as you do with smoking, with no monginess or tiredness. I can't decide if this is a good or a bad thing, I kind of like being completely twatted. IS this still possible with the old vapouriser?

You should simply try it for yourself. I do not have an expensive vaporizer and get higher than when smoking the same amount, but it's a different sort of high. Some people prefer it, some don't. However, you do not need to buy an expensive unit to try it out. Even a "light bulb" vaporizer conserves weed and is effective (maybe more effective than the lower cost electrical units).

corinthian, ive got a volcano vaporizer, and it does get you compleatly and utterly twatted! its a much nicer 'high' than smoking gives you, health wise it infinatly better for you, it conserves your weed fourfold. the only problem is the initial cost, around £300! worth it if you can afford it though
