the third eye is primarily your astral and etheric sight, you can gain clairvoyance and/or remote viewing with the opening of your third eye.

the general idea is to send energy upward to your third eye, located in the center of your forehead, between your eyes, and above the nose.

the color of energy associated with the third eye is white.

it is always best to open your chakras from the bottop and work your way, one at a time, up to the next chakra.


there are supposedly 7 major chakras.

i feel 6.

you can take the solar plexus chakra for what you will, but i dont think it's either real or important.

the chakras are:

Root, at the bottom of the spine between your anus and gonads. color of energy: RED
spleen, below the bellybutton. Color of energy: orange-yellow
(solar plexus next to the heart) yellow
Heart, center of your chest, but i've heard it is a wandering chakra... i think it accounts for your ribcage as well as spine. color of energy: GREEN
thyroid, throat chakra at base of neck. color of energy: BLUE
Crown, base of skull (accounts for your brain, technically it is the last chakra.) Color of Energy: Purple/violet
and Third Eye, as mentioned before, above your nose, between your eyes, associated with white energy.

unused energy is black/colorless.


to extract energy from your roots, you can use breathing techniques and meditation, and concentrate on picturing hands inside you, pulling the energy up from your toes and feet, into your root gate chakra/gland, and as it courses from each gate, it fluxuates color to match that gate's needs.

you see the energy come in with each inhale, and you must picture the excess energy flowing out with each breath, as a murkey colorless black.


if your chakras ever become overactive, you can eat and/or exerscise to help close them.

esra is right, although in shamanic tradition entheogens and psychadelics are used widely as the "training wheels" for shamanic vision quests. with alot of practice, you will be able to produce an ecstatic visionary state without the use of any drugs (like me :)). Basically it is like learning to tune your brain like a radio, lowering or increasing the frequency at will, tapping into different levels of your existence.

Last night I tried opening my third eye. I was laying in bed, for once NOT high before going to sleep, and I closed my eyes and focused them like they were looking at the Third Eye, and then I started paying lots of attention to what I felt in the area where my Third Eye is (I've heard that the Third Eye thrives off of attention). I found that when I was doing it, my mind would wander and I'd start imagining things vividly (nothing new), but I was completely still (I'm very hyperactive), and my eyes remained focused and the only physical sensation I had was right there on my forehead (and the strange feeling of having your eyes focused on something way close).

This went on for a few minutes (or a few hours, time was lost to me) but then all of a sudden I felt like a rush of feeling right around my Third Eye. I mean, a rush like it was so intense it made my head shake. I think I blacked out after that and fell asleep because that's my last memory before waking up.

What do y'all think?

Focus on the center of your two eyes and meld them as one collective eye, with a full "widescreen" perspective, looking at what you're seeing as a backdrop and looking past it. haha well there MIGHT be some new wave of color in the spectrum, but being an art major and knowing some about color, I highly doubt it. The color wheel pretty much takes care of any color ever.

No, the colors would be completely different. And, actually, it'd be traumatizing to suddenly be able to see things all over that you never used to. I mean, if all of a sudden you could see...radio waves, for example, you'd see all sorts of shit bouncing around, and you'd have NO idea what to make of it. Why? Because you have hundreds of thousands of years of evolution that told you what to make of specific wavelengths going into your eye or frequencies into your ear. We're just so used to the "Visible" light spectrum because it's what we've seen at birth. We see objects represented by waves instead of the waves themselves.

The third eye is a chakra point or a great energy focal point right above-between your eyebrows.

I don't really know the true meaning of "opening" it, but i have had some wonderful, enlightening experiences where I have been focusing on my third eye. I have only reached this point while meditating and letting my gaze drift up to the third eye, closing my eyelids and breathing very deeply and ... not thinking haha.

Its hard. But if you really want it, it is definetly there for everyone to tap into. It's beautiful!!

there is ways of seeing that go far beyond third eye vision. there are people that have developed the ability to see from a point way above thier head and some that can transfer thier sight to inamimate objects also. There is a mechanic that I have read about that used that tequnique to diagnose car problems even faster than a diagnostic computer could.

The third eye (aka the pineal gland) is the gateway to things such as extrasensory perception and spiritual enlightenment. At least I think so...

Anyhoo...the third eye corresponds with the sixth chakra. (I think the sixth...correct me if I'm wrong...) An energy center.

well im not nessacarily doubting it's existance, because technically, there are billions of chakras... but there are only 6 gateway points, focal points for guiding the energy.

3 of which are master chakras that deal with controlling, guiding, generating, and storing energy for the body and other chakras.

so perhaps the solar plexus is not a gate, but something more powerful...

I have had salvia divinorum open that up for me where I close my eyes and all the sudden theres a whole other place that I see all around and it is very vivid. It looks as real as this reality
other plants can open the third eye as well such as amanita muscara
but I would't call astral travel 3rd eye vision though

I have spent the past 15 years struggling to find meaning, ascertain value and understand the whole concept of this THIRD EYE.

I've travelled every route, practiced meditation, smoked a lot of weed, read a lot of books and talked to a lot of "experts" and I have come to my own personal conclusion.

The third eye isn't an eye, it's not a physical manifestation. It is alignment, not of the chakras or anything related.

It is silencing the world, recognition of our impermanence, absolute gratitude, recognition of miracles (small and large), putting out and recieving positive signals from the Universe via the Law of Attraction and understanding, grasping and overcoming duality.

I've spent a lot of years doing it all wrong. Thinking that posture, dress, associations, organized ritual, and other external forces could pry open my third eye.

I was told I would never walk again because of a spinal injury I sustained in a car accident. While I was lying on the asphalt bleeding, I had come to know and appreciate peace love and understanding. For once in my life I wasn't afraid, I was ready... ready for anything. I had come to know that this is just a transitory phase, we're here for unknown reasons and we're blessed with love weed and endless talent. Not needing to know everything, surrendering your emotions to belief, transmitting positive thoughts and being grateful for all I was given and all I would gain and knowing for once that all we are is just a collection of dust and memories made me "get it."
