I am going to buy some scales and just wondered how much the baggie weighs? I am just wondering because when I go and collect I dont really want to empty the contents out in front of the dealer.

So if I bought 3.5 grams (1/8) how much would the baggie weigh?

The foldable baggies are 0.5 of a gram and the zip lock ones are 1.0 gram.

well if you are going to buy scales then weigh the baggie.

It totally depends upon the bag. they can run from .5g up to several grams.

edit: I see you said you dont want ot do that in front of the dealer....sorry

but still it depends on the size, type, make etc. ...they weigh different.

or you could put an empty baggie on the scale and zero it, and then weigh what he gave you.

That much I thought they would be only about 0.1 or 0.2. Cheers for the help.

Most regular sandwich baggies are 1.1 or 1.3 The only ziplock bag I have ever weighed came out to 2.5 g so just weigh an empty baggie of the same kind you are getting your bud in before hand so you dont have to worry about it when it comes to weigh it up in front of the dealer. Then you will know that if you are getting an 1/8th in a sandwich bag it should weigh out to 4.6.

You should weigh the bag if u can. Everyones answers seem to differ, the bags I get my 1/8ths in weigh exactly 0.4grams.

sandwich baggies vary a lot...i've measured them in at anywhere from 0.5 to 1.4 grams for the standard, 'lick' baggies and the ziplock sandwich size usually runs around 5 grams with the large 'pounders' coming in around 9 to 11 grams...but they too vary according to brand.

but the "baggie" name-brand ones seem to be fairly consistant at close to 1.0 g's...

Why don't you weigh the bags when you buy the scales? :stoned:

Just take an empty baggie, the same baggie as the stuff is in, put it on the scale, set the scale to 0, and there you go!

I use a small tray to place the greens in. The tray weighs 23.5g's, but I set it to 0, and it just weighs the greens.

You don't want to weigh a baggy infront of him, yet you're rude enough (in the dealers eyes) To weigh it in front of him, showing distrust (and therefore a complete lack of respect)

Unless of course he's offered you to weigh it but otherwise don't complain if he tells you to fuck off.
Frankly he has every right to unless he's clearly taking the piss and the bag looks SEVERLY undercut.

Get your scales, buy from him, weigh it at home (and the baggy since they'll have different weights depending on size) oh - And maybe go back to your school and demand an education.

baggies vary from weight to weight depending on make or even change of design. When "Someone i Know" started dealing the baggies he used weighed .4 of a gram then suddenly without warning they changed to .6 of a gram, this caused confusion.
