Should you run your room fans through the process or have them turn off? What would be the rate of C02 during bloom? Do you run C02 during Veg? Have a C02 tank as my system.

I'm starting up a system of my own and I have similar questions... but they involve CO2 injection in a very small (cabinet) setup.

From what I've been told, CO2 can be applied from root to two weeks into flowering. That seems to hold up with all the experts I've asked.

However, you cannot have your exhaust fans running while your CO2 system is injecting CO2 into your grow room because the fans will just suck the gas out and keep the rooms CO2 levels at normal (about 400ppm at sea level.... your plants like it at 1500ppm).

So, your ventilation system must be off during CO2 injection. Plants in a CO2 rich environment, however, can sustain healthy growth in much higher temperatures (up to 90-93 degrees from what I've heard... but that sounds too hot). If temperature is too much of an issue, you could put a small, closed-loop A/C unit running on the same timer as your CO2 system, and then set the timers on your ventilation system to go off when the CO2 goes on. That way... your room should stay at pretty much the same temperature even when you're injecting CO2 and the vent. system is off.

Any amount up to 2500ppm is beneficial. Over 2500 is a waste. The CO2 level when cannabis developed on earth 250000 years ago was 2500ppm. CO2 is not used at night, but can be used at any time during the plants life to increase growth rate. CO2 levels work with a balance in regards to lumens the plant can take and tds of ions your plant can process. The plant absorbs the CO2 thru the stomata which are mouthlike opening on the under side of the leaf. They not only intake CO2 but disperse water as the final stage of transpiration. I wonder if anyone has developed a method to test the ion content of the dispelled water in relation to the nute mix. Probably not but I will see what I can do. Any way I will stop rambling now

Enhanced co² is good from the start of vegetation cycle to the finish of flower cycle. Including up to the day you harvest.

General air is about 300ppm so you need to add about 1500ppm of CO² and have a sealed room to hold in the gas so the plants can absorb it. The idea is to hold the level of about 1800ppm from lights on to lights off. You only exchange the air in the room a few times a day then build it back up again.

If you don't have a controller to monitor the level then try the old method but it's just a guess. Just use a timer and hope you have it right. The problem with using a timer is you are guessing. You have no way of knowing how much leaks out and how much the plants use before your next refill of the room.

There are large scale CO2 generators that actually tap in to your natural gas or propane source and burn the propane or gas to create CO2... those systems are generally very expensive and require a careful installation and a watchful grower.

There are other CO2 generation methods out there that involve putting yeast/sugars into liquid and setting the bottles that the mixture is in in your grow room.... but these methods are fairly inefficient IMO. But they are the cheapest way to go.

I'd just get a bottle and a regulator system. It's the easiest way to go.

You can get small units like the CD-3 that is a single burner for about 300 bucks or less on eBay. They are worth the money if you are going to grow for many years. A good controller is recommended but not required.

A good controller can save you time and money and keep the guessing out of your room.
