View Full Version : Re-occurring pains when I smoke.

First off, I have been a regular smoker for 6 years. and 6 months ago i severly strained the left half of my body. I seem to have reccovered well, still have pains, but they ussually only occur when I smoke marijuana. This has been happening for the past month. I usually smoke 2-5 times a day, and the pain ussually only stays for about 20-40 minutes after i smoke. The pain itself is in my forearm, and inner arm area. It is a stinging, stiffness feeling. These are both spots which i pulled some time ago. I still have pains somtimes in these areas, but ussually only after i strain them again, via lifting somthing heavy. If anyone has any information on this, or suggestions, or anything which might help me out I would be greatfull. This could be in my head, i dont know. but it is cutting into my smoking time, and making it far less enjoyable.
Although, it could be a coincidence that I feel the pain when I smoke. I still have not fully recovered.
that's interesting, because a lot of people use marijuana to dull pain. the only thing i can think of is that my muscles get tight and/or spasm sometimes when i get high, especially when i used to do it many times a day. so it makes sense that if you injured your muscles, having them involuntarily tighten could be pretty painful. i would suggest getting some physical therapy (if you're not already) and maybe even yoga or pilates or something where you can stretch your muscles out so they don't hurt when they tighten.

thanks, yea. Muscle spasms happen alot, and that could very well be the problem. I was taking PT for a while, but i stoped. I was aswell constintly stretching for a couple months. It does seem to do better when i keep up with the stretching, because for the past month i have infact been lessening the frequency of my stretches. I'll start stretching more often, i will try an hour a day. Thanks, and i hope this works out.
I prob should have realized this all, but I didnt. Thank you. :smokin:

it could be your spine is out of adjustment and you just need to see a chiropractor
sometimes I have my girlfriend walk on my back and it cracks in many spots and then I feel great for a few days
and then I can smoke just fine :-)

odd thing is i have no leg problems.. only prob on back is in left shoulder blade, and i also have chest pains, could that be a result of it? a pinched nerve doesnt queit fall into the pain i am having either, as far as i know.

leg problems are cause at the base of the spine

Have you tried excercising or using physiotherapy for the injured muscle during the daytime when you're not high?

Im 18, been a moderate smoker for 6 years. and first tried about 8 years ago. (not completly positive)
I was in Physical Theripy, i stoped and started doing the exercies myself. but it didnt work. I started slowing down when i thought it was getting better, about 2 weeks after I started geting pains when I smoked, they started out as a light pain (stinging) down my arm, back, side, and chest. But over 2 more weeks. (not completly sure again) The pain has became stronger, now if I smoke more them 2 hits, the pain becomes more then I can bear. It is why I went to the emergency room. I couldnt move my arm, or finers, it was numb, alot of tingling/stinging. Although, I smoke maby every other day now still, but only 1 hit. just enough for a light buzz, and a lil pain. Thou it does seem better then more I am moving around before geting high, but not by much.. been smoking less and less over the years.. really sucks...

K here's one suggestion that might work. Quit the weed for at least 5 weeks, and i mean quit as in give it all to some hobo or something and call up your friends and cancel their parties.
Spend your newfound free time VERY VERY SLOWLY excercising your muscles that are in pain. If excercise hurts now, then just move them. And if moving them hurts now, then just clench the muscles. And if clenching hurts, then stick them in the cold winter night for half the time required of frostbite, so you wanna excercise just to warm up.

(I keep erasing full pages I am trying to post) lol Sobritiy is fucking killing me.
But I got Physicall Theripy today, my theripist always gives me at home excersises so I should be alright with that.
As for the cold, the cold makes my muscle spasms worse, the warmth seems to make them hurt less. They feel like a pop. I am not actully 100% sure what the pops are. But they are very very fucking painfull. I think there spasms, they only feel like pops in my effected areas. I get them on the rest of my body, like normal...
Thanks for the imput moeburn, I apprecaite it. And I will try to stay clean for a month or more if I can. Although, I have trouble going a day. And my freinds will cave on me if I call for some... so getting rid of my buds... will not help much.. but ill go ahead and make a hobo have a good day.
