150w hps light

If I buy a 150w hps bulb from Home Depot, bulb requires a mogol base. Do I need a ballast or do I just get the mogol socket and wire the socket to a plug?

Thought I would respond to my own question. Yes, you do need a HEAVY magnetic ballist/transformer. There a electronic ones out there but very expensive. This should do for now.
