What are the differences and which is more effective in ridding the smell of cannabis? Any feedback would be appreciated. Thank you,

Ozone needs to be outside your grow room and it's not very stealth. Ozone has it's own odor and in high amounts will harm you and your plants.
Carbon scrubbers deal with the odor from the plants and have no odor of their own. They are safe to have in the grow room ozone is not.

Activated Charcoal is the professionals choice.

Thanks for the feedback. Around how much are they to purchase materials and construct? I know that I've seen tutorials around the board, but are they difficult to make? Keep in mind I'm a pretty shitty "builder" I guess you could say.

Then don't take a chance buy one ASAP. Look on eBay for cheap versions.

Before I used a carbon filter I used to vent it into the attic.

Can I just purchase a carbon filter at the store?

Yes. But it's probably for filtering water.
You should buy a jug of Activated Charcoal (or Activated Carbon, not sure). Then, improve from "shitty" building, to "shitty with more of a solid consistency" building. ;)
