we've decided to go to amsterdam this summer, and yes i may be a little premature (it's not even 2006 yet) but i'm just so freaking excited!
we're very budgeted, but i think by then we can each get $3000 together, after plane tickets we'll have $2000 to stay in amsterdam for 10 days(!) that may be awhile, but we're also hoping on traveling a bit, doing a little backpacking and such.
of course, i'm most excited about the bud...mmm.
so anyone who is experienced or perhaps those who live there, what area would i want to stay in? i want to be close to the pot man. i've been told to stay away from touristy coffee shops...anyway, any recommendation on area? we'll probably be looking to stay at a hostel or something, or a cheap hotel.
gawd i'm stoked :rasta:

Just spent 3 weeks. Do yourself a favor and don't waste too much time searching. Go to Grey Area, and get Grey Myst or 4077 Medicinal Leaf. Most consistent shop I visited, and both of those choices were the best I found the whole time. And I went to a SHITLOAD of them during the trip (I called my trip "three weeks and 100 grams"). Other favorites include Greenhouse Tolstraat (Northern Lights X, and the best relaxed vibe), Katsu (Killer Green), and De Dampkring (good general selection and really cool interior).
Barney's has the best hash. WARNING: Ice Hash is like "Hash Crack". I literally watched a buddies face turn ghost white on 1 puff of Barney Rubble. Take it slow if you aren't used to this type of stuff.

nah man, orbitz quoted a ticket to amsterdam for a bit over 700 after taxes and fees for september, we were going to backpack a bit so im looking at these hostels that are $30 usd a night, i mean we're not there to sleep...food, pot, museaums, etc...i think we'd be good with $3-$4k
