I wonder how many in the late 30 and early 40 think about our world has changed. I guess I can compare to my daughters surrounding to when I was growing up. The are so many sensory over load now. I use to love sensory over load but I don't think I ever got this much sensation all the time. (example video games.) I don't really play but see commercials that are targeting young people. Even I feel like trying and be that character. I don't know if I had a character I wanted to simulate. But definetly game players now know that they want to be that character when they play. (good or bad).
What affect will that have in someone's personality.
I have personality through my mostly rough childhood. Now days many kids get mostly what they want (at least people surrounding me, and watches tv and uses limited computer time) and they have all this interactive and cyber world that keeps them going,
This must affect personality right?

when I was 8-12 years old (I'm 39 now)
I use to watch black and white TV
TV use to have dials instead of buttons.
No remote
Mickey Mouse after school special
Carol Burnette show
I used out house ( hole in the ground)

I came to US when I was 12. I'm totally American but I still have all this memory that must have made me who I am now.

Well there is tons I can name but who wants to know.

It's fun writing thoughts down.

Well just a thought.

where were you from before you where 12?

And I got 10 more years over you. We had no remotes and did not really need them because we only got 3 chanels anyway.
And tv went off of the air about 12:00 evry night with the star spangled banner and the the planes would fly away.

well the town i live in has a am radio staion and it goes off of the air every night when the sun goes down.

I remember in Korea that we also had only few channels. and it will only come on after 6. But before we moved I do remember watch some cartoon. Woody wood Pecker, Tom and Jerry. Oh, Little house on the prairie, 6 milion dollar man, Bionic woman, and Columbo, more but I can't remember in English title.

I tasted my kids gum. They taste flat and sweet, but there is grape flavor bubble gum it's sour and sweet and quite good. One thing is that kids gum taste bad very fast. Tonight, I gave my 5 yr old a gum about 30 minutes a go. She is still chewing. Adult chewing gum taste fresh for longer period even when it's sweetness is gone.

another stupid thought

I loved this link. I became a christian about 4 months ago. I really am more happy than before. I still like to vaporize because I still think deeper and quieter when I'm medicated.

The best thing about growing old is looking back .... Lots more small businesses and skilled people working in trades, and passed down through generations: house painters, electricians, fix-it guys .

A typical family had one car. Most moms stayed home w/kids, watching soap opera's, and being very domestic: cooking, cleaning, sewing. Neighbors were like family, and milk was delivered to our door.

Families actually ate meals together, always cooked at home (no take-out), and Sunday dinner was special. Speaking of Sunday .... most businesses were closed, and people stayed home, or just traveled to visit relatives. The term "Sunday Driver" came from a slow recreational drive on roads without traffic.

Yes, I could go on and on ....

Happy daze! I find this comforting knowing we're together here in cyber space. Yes, that's a change alright. I even remember those black and white saddle shoes we wore to school in the 50's. I'm one of those women caught in the middle of expecting a husband should take care of me, like the old days, and at the same time knowing how much energy has gone into making things better for women. It's not though, I think I heard on TV not long ago that women make less now compared to a man working the same job, than what the statistics said about that then. Sure there's many more women at the top of that ladder now, but I'm talking about the average woman.

And yes the world has changed.. he he..

We talk about this type of stuff a lot in my communications classes believe it or not. We were talking about a guy named Marshell McLuhan he was a social scientist type guy he said that ??the medium is the message? meaning that societies are shaped by how they communicate with each other. He studied the effects of technology as it related to popular culture, and how this in turn affected human beings and their relations with one another in communities. It??s actually fascinating fucking stuff. Heres a good link if you want more on him.

being born in the 80s, it is just so remarkable to hear older people talk about how the world has changed. i love discussions about this, and i always think about how different things will be in 5, 10, or 20 years from now.

Pot made me feel better but going to church and connecting to GOD really saved me from going crazy. I thought I was in control until I realized that I'm not in control and I can't change people or situations. I believe you can only trust GOD for the answers. Giving all my control to GOD and just don't take everything personal really helps.

So you all elders out there, does your other half enjoy using pot?

Mine don't know.

I'm going to vaporize and come back and see what other stupid things I can write about.
