Hello, me again...Just thought i would post a picture of my 1st plant

Can anyone tell from this pic the sex? (i have no clue how, just wondering)


Some basic info i need :

When do i start flowering?

Where can i pick up a timer for my light? (home depot or lowes maybe?)

Does my plant look like it has any promblems? thanks!

looks like its stretching a bit due to lack of light. get a few more. you cant tell sex untill the preflowers come out after you put it into flowering. also transplant into a bigger pot or it will become rootbound. if you have only cfl lamps then any timer will do but if you use hid lamps use a 15 amp timer. from the looks of it wait 2 weeks to a month to start flowering. also use good flowering nutrients.

harmonicminor pretty much summed it up, the minimum time to flower is 30 days from sprout i believe, but you can keep it in veg for a while if you want a massive plant.

Hello Josh :) this is only my suggetion love ;) Firstly I wouldn't be thinking about flowering just yet, I would be looking to get a bit more vegitive growth ;)
Also the plant seems along way down in the pot, cannabis plants like deep pots for their roots (or so I've been told). I was just wondering if it was possible for you to do a little re-potting and fill the pot will compost so that the plant ends up sitting at the top of a pot.

hey, get some mylar or paint the walls white around it, its more reflective than aluminium foil. This may help side growth on the plant and definately try to get that 125 watt cfl, it would be good to use the 60 as well, and keep the lights like 2 inches from the plants

no, indica is just a species of cannabis plant, its not bad it means that it will probably be a stony couchlock type high. This also depends on when you harvest.

Yes flower it. 28 inches is super tall. If it doubles in height after forcing itll be 56 inches tall when done and you dont have the light for a plant that big. Youll be harvesting a small quantity as it is. FLOWER IT!!!!! FLOWER IT!!!!!

Hello Josh :) when I first read you're post I mistaken it for 28cm and thought there's no rush, I'd get more vegitive growth on it. However at 28 inches I would say induce flowering and see what happens ;)
Like Sativagrowin says it's going to get big.

I would like to see more growth, more leaves and it to "bush" out more but at that height I would have to flower ;)

yeah i induced flowering, i heard that you should let it sit in the dark for 36 hours when enduceing flowering instead of going straight to 12/12, why would i do this? how does it help?

Hello Josh :) I've never done that I just switch straight to 12/12.

I have heard of people gradually reducing time lengths down to 12/12 but I've never bothered ;)

Well, outdoors, plants flower with starlight and moonlight.

But indoors, you should get it as pitch black as possible. You can use carpets/heavy black fabrics to cover gaps and holes. But, it should be as dark as possible. You might risk hermies.

Wait on input from more experienced growers on this one. :)

Hello Josh :) you know I don't really know how much "not quite darkness" (for the want of a better phrase :o ) a plant will tollerate before it would be unable to flower ????.

I've never had that problem because when the light is out the growroom is totally light proof, it's really dark ;). However I did grow an outside crop on my first grow and the natural night is definetely not total darkness.

However if I were you Josh, I would try to find some way to block all light out to be on the safe side ;)

That long light there is a newer one, i have that one, a 120W MH and a 60W MH all on it...the 120 and 60w are both directly above it...If anyone has a suggestion on where i should place my lights, or if i should move them please say so..

Also...my plant can't hold itself up so i have to tie it up with fishing wire, is this a promblem?

And does plant bending lead to any promblems? its bending towards the light but i dont want to turn the plant because the fishing wire would need untied and retied

i so glad i found u dudes...ive grown befor but not as commited as i am this time. yet even now ive messed up....lol after reading thru Jeorge cervantes "indoor cultivation" i was headed to the local hyrdoponics shop (lol i live in LA) whereby i requested some VHO flos (an 8 tube bank) and was directed by the so called expert to a a 175 watt MH hid. my sprouts came up and at the time i felt confident that they wouldnt elongate because of having an hid lamp...dumb move ...i walked in stoned marveling at all the truely neat gadgets instead of paying attention. the salesman directed me to something i knew wasnt effecient enough and way too hot...the moral being...trust your grower friends and not someone whos sole motivation is profit....

either way im here and i hope the questions i ask wont bother too many of you

PS just for the record...VHO flos or HID for starters?????

HID although they get hot, if you can have proper venting. theyre 100% worth it! i dunno about a 175 watt though, ide go with a 400

tks for the input. i guess what bothered me most was that if i HAD gone with the flos i coulda had 320W (40Wx8 tubes)with cool whites at 65K lumens rather than 175W at less than 30K lumens and the flos i coulda gotten SO much closer (almost touching) w/o burning (as it stands now i can hang the small hid like 4-6 inches over the starters i just miss the extra lumens that coulda got me a little further before i had to invest in another light). as soon as i get the bread im goin with 2 430W agro sons and a 600W sunmaster on a 12' light mover in a 10'x16' room. the thing is that now i have some starters that are streached and others that are not. the hydro aspect amazes me as in just 2 days they have already have their 1st full set of veggi leaves and have streched to like 2.5 inches. it kills me that i ve already elongated them. ill get ya some pics tomrrow...if ya dont mind lookin at starters

I ordered a 27watt CFL at homedepot.com today, going to add more light and see if thats the promblem...ALSO i have a question about pot sizes...How big of a pot do i need for a permanent home..Right now its in a bucket but the roots seem to be everywhere poping out the top, am i going to need to transplant to a HUGE pot?

for every foot of growth average 1 gallon of soil, those 27 watt cfls your talking about at homedepot are 2700k which is red sprectrum best for flowering but the lumens per watt ratio is pretty shitty unless u ordered like 2 or three of those personally i think this site is great for inexpensive anything for ur garden from lighting to nutz to what ever www.kggardensupply.com best of luck

how and when can i tell if my plant is indica or sativa? i am planning to grow a few plants using a scrog style of growth and imagine i would prefer indica... my friend that provided the seeds and herb doesn't know his ass from a hole in the ground...

You can tell the diffrence as the leaves sprout, I beleive that Indica plants have wider leaves, and dont grow as tall..Stavia plants have thiner leaves and can grow Very tall...

I have some of these domes forsale as the ones you seen in my pictures they have a glass built in them and i dropped my temp from 84 to 86 all the way down to about 75F with one of these and a run a 400w MH in it comes with a bulb LET ME KNOW BRO

Umrocksmysocks, Nice ass little plant, I expect my next grow to be 12123123123123123 times better.. (than my 1st one)...I veged this grow with a bulb that i guess no one has really ever used for growing, hahaha.......
Right now i have a 42w CFL (you can see in the pic above)...A 27 watt cfl that i posted a pic of on page 3, And "bright stick" i bought at lowe.... Is this enough for my plant?

When exactly do they need the grow space? I really wouldn't harvest yet.. I don't think they're even close to being ready.

Buds are "smokeable" at any stage. They're not nearly as large or potent as they would be if you waited.

Harvesting early is better than having nothing when your parents find them. Can you think of an alternative grow area, to bring your buds to maturation?
