hey i.t. guys and gals. would you know what would solve this problem? my cpu is 3.2 ghz, 256 ram but brand new. i use win media to burn cd's (but also tried to correct this problem by using itunes). after i'm done burning and i try to listen to it, the tracks start getting alot of static in it. it usually starts around the 8th or 9th track. by the 11th or so it wont even play. any suggestions? any more info needed?

Add more memory for starters. 256 is not much for what you are doing. 512Mg or 1G would be better. Also what brand of cd's are you using? Some kind of no-name cd might be the problem but I am leaning towards the memory thing.

anyway, its probably the CD's you are using. get better CD's. also, make sure its not just the CD player that you're using.

it could also be the burner.... but you said you get static? what is your source that you are burning from, are you sure its not your track is messed up? trying using a different program.... any other program you can, does it happen with both programs you use already? try also burning at slower speed, underrun protection... because I doubt that adding memory will solve this problem unless your burning to fast and your ram is not keeping up, but try that, slow your recording speed down... let us know

its nothging to do with how good your computer is. make sure the burner is working proberly.. you have good software..fuck using win media. download nero 7 or sumfin. win medea takes fuckin hours to burn a cd. also make sure the tracks you burn arent corrupted. isnt this just common sence?? or are you just fucking stupit

ya... i know win media sucks. but it does the same with itunes. it's almost like it's overheating because the first cd will start messing up at the 9th track and then the second at the 8th or so... and so on. its a brand new burner, so i dont really understand. a friend of mines computer was doing the same thing. i dont know if she ever fixed it.

try changing speeds like I said, let me know what happens

What speed are you burning at. Typically if you are using bad cd's and burning at very high speeds ex. 48x-54x than the cd will not burn correctly. Also get more memory, a huge cpu like that needs more room to work with than the windows xp bare minimum.
So try these few things to get it working right.
1. Get more memory. Atleast 512 mb
2. Lower your burn speed to 24x
3. Get some better software. ex. nero burning rom
4. get brand name cd's

try those and see if they work. if not than your cd-burner may be malfunctioning.

it has nothing to do with the computer or software, or cheap cd's... it has to do with there being scratches,, dust or blemishes on the cd's you are using... make sure the cd's u are buring on are new, and spotless... thats what it is

Sounds like the software that you're using isn't mixing very well with your
system. No one here could really tell you exactly what the problem is
without troubleshooting a good amount. If you are getting the same results
using different brand new blank CD's, and since it seems to get progressively
worse, I would have to go with a crappy burn program or misconfiguration.

The first thing that I would try is to download musicmatch or some program
that will do this for you. I actually had a similar problem and no matter which
software i used, it was like the problem changed slightly but was still there.

I imagine the MP3's sound find before burning? do you have another brand of
blank cds that you can try? The bottom line is you should try other software
first IMO.

You could also try the blanks you are using on a buddy's machine to test the discs.
