View Full Version : Pot......Should I still be smoking it???
unsure

Hey Guys,
I'm a newbie here on Cannabis.com but I'm not new to smoking pot.
I just have a few questions that I would like answering, if anyone can be bothered.
Well, I'm 6' tall and weigh 167lbs I'm by no means thin, but I don't think I am incredibly fat either, however I would like to tone up the flabby bits or build some muscle in to the area's where I just don't seem to fit into my own skin. I have come to terms that the THC in the drug absorbs into the fat stores making it very hard to lose body fat.
I'm not entirely sure how u guys in the US weigh ur pot, but I have dropped from smoking (over the past 4 years) 5 grams a day to 1 (I need weed too sleep, I get really bad withdrawls).
Should I completely quit pot to gain the body I desire, if possible. (This could lead to worse things happening ie. lose of loved ones due to my mentality whilst not stoned) Or can I still build muscle whilst smoking reefer????
If I can stay on pot and still be able to build muscle is there anyone out there that maybe able to give me some sort of diet plan????
Thanx for ur time guys..... Cheers

Weed speeds up your metabolism. It has no affect on weight loss.

hey,
well itz my opinion that smokin duznt have too much of an effect on body fat. it does slow down yer metabolism, therefore allowing more of the good thingz in food to enter the body, but also the bad ones such as fat. i smoke everyday and not just once a day, as many times as i can afford. fat hasnt been a prblem fer me but i work out as much as i can and dont munch out usually, and when i do i try to stay away frum fatty foodz. in short, i think if ya live a as healthy and active life as possible, ud loose sum poundz. juss my opinion tho

unsure: if you're looking to get toned, you don't need to stop smoking weed, you need to stop eating crappy foods and start exercise. it actually is that simple. do you have access to a gym/free weights? aerobic exercise is also very beneficial, jogging, yoga even. I find that when I'm stoned I usually work out longer, harder, and I feel like I have more energy while I'm doing it, too. just make sure you drink water throughout your workout, just a couple sips here and there so you don't get dehydrated.
as for diet, just use your head...check the nutrition labels on your foods, and compare them between each other...avoid anything that has, say, twice as much fat as something else you might have (like carrot sticks instead of pork rinds).

First thing's first: if anything, you need to gain weight cuz being 167 lbs at your height is a little on the light side. If you're looking to tone up little flab here and there and don't wanna kill yourself in the heat (if that's an issue) swimming is your best bet. If swimming ain't your thing, find an activity that you'll enjoy and wouldn't mind taking the time to do in your day. Avoid anything that has high fructose corn syrup in it since that's one of the major weight gainers out there.
Drink water, avoid overly salty foods and you should see a difference in a few weeks if you keep it up. As for the activity, you should do it at least 3-5 times a week for 20-40 minutes.
As for pot, toke up. Just don't let it stop you from doing your choice of activity(ies).

hey, if u just eat 2-3 basic meals a day and avoid munching out u'll lose some weight, and i dont think ur overweight for ur height,im 6 foot as well and wiegh about 125-130 but im really scrawny, i workout 3-4 times a week and avoid munching out, if u do that u'll build some muscle and u might not get any lighter u'll just have more muscle and look better

If you wanna build muscle eat alot of fish and meat...fish and meat are high in protien and thats what muscle tissue is made out of, work out for about 20 mins a day, run a mile a day and for 20 mins to alot of pushups and situps and pullups and streatches and some wieghts, try to work out every other day because if you work out everyday lactic acids will build up causing no muscle at all to be built. And about the animals are being killed cruely and mistreated at slaughter farms....how do you figure? The get 3 meals a day, pleanty of company, and a good life.....its better to get killed before ya get too old and miserable to the point where the cow cant walk anymore cause of arthiritis and the likes. And btw did you know that while harvesting those vegetables you vegeterians like so much about 300,000,000 field animals are mowed over by harvesters and such every year to produce your wonderful harmless vegetables. Definitely eat meat, if ya dont you wont get prper nutrients and for working out high protien is a must.

I've been vegetarian since 1976.
I'm very healthy,
rarely sick and
don't have weight issues.
My kids aren't though,
when they're old enough
they can make their own choices.
It isn't for everyone.
Takes longer to plan menus
to ensure a balanced diet
but it works for me.
BTW Albert Einstein was a vegetarian :p

Did You Know?
Scientists discovered recently that vegetables are actually intelligent, and can communicate at extremely high sound frequencies. If you have the right equipment, you can hear sobbing, pleading, screaming, and even death rattles while you prepare a salad!
Looks like you vegans are going to be reduced to eating your own body hair...
(btw, that was inspired by george carlin, the funniest asshole I've ever heard of. I myself have never heard a vegetable scream, nor do I care, as I don't eat that many anyways.)

I love meat. I love the smell of a big fat porterhouse on the grill. I will always prefer meat over vegetables. Although, the latter goes great with the prior. In any case, I say, to each his own. Do what makes you happy.
My only qualm with any of this, is with the bastard vegans who feel it's necessary to try and turn/'inform' meat eaters with their so-called truths. Here's a news flash: We know how the animals are treated. We know how they are killed in every gruesome detail. We don't need your statistics. We like meat, you like plants. Let's just keep it at that. You will never win your little battle against meat-eating. You will never turn the planet. Just shut up and eat your damn plants, and we'll shut up and eat our damn blood-drenched meat.
I'm hungry now.

I've been a vegetarian since 1989 and have been with a carnivore/hunter since 1995. Our eating differences mean nothing in our relationship because I'm not a vegan, I eat dairy products.
It is possible to build muscle without eating meat, you can find protein in other foods. Veggies work out and have muscle tone and definition like every other meat eater that takes care of their body.
The only thing I haven't been able to get past is being able to smell meat on a carnivore's breath...they seem to be blissfully unaware of this. Altoids...please, for the love of Pete.

how do you think humans evolved with such big brains, it was by eating meat. if you dont eat meat, your brain wont grow right.
That isn't true, because the second smartest animals are primates, which don't eat meat. There are plenty of moronic meat-eating animals. Your brain can grow just fine without meat, I know many vegetarians that are more intelligent than people that eat both and have done so since they were babies.

I believe the second smarted aminals are dolphins, and they DO eat meat.
In regards to the actuall topic at hand, my friend smokes a few times a week, but he runs 2 times a week and does free-weights 2 times a week (i.e. monday: run, tuesday: free-weight, wednesday:rest, thursday:run, friday:free-weight, sat/sun: rest). He seems to be in pretty good shape.
On the other hand, I know someone who smokes every other day, does nothing but read, and is the tonest person I've seen in town.
So maybe you should... read?

isnt it fascinating that the carnivores are informed about the topic basicly on a general, vague level?
my argument isnt based on "i'm superior than you" it's based on compassion and a desire to make the world a better place. there's nothing wrong with that, clevemire. dont be so harsh man.

Another perspective on carnivore/herbivore.
Im not gonna slam meat, i love the stuff, but in moderation.
As far as producing meat goes, its pretty energy consuming. It takes shitloads more water and fuel and energy to produce meat than it does to feed people on grains.
Now everyone who lives in a city and drives a big ute and eats a horse a day wont care, fair enough.
But the world wont hold many people if we keep eating as much meat as we do. I dont know the figures off hand, but the world could feed billions more if we didnt use half the water we have to grow grain, to feed to cattle as bagged feed or pasture. U gotta hope u can still afford it when 2 billion chinese develop the same tastes.
As far as health benefits of being a vego, it depecds on the quality and diversity of the plants. If u eat only supermarket stored, sprayed, chemmy veges then its not that great for you. On the other hand if youre getting a good diverse supply of fresh, organic produce, a small amount of meat is all you'd need every now and then. gotta eat fish, gotta eat eggs tho i reckon.
But diverse diet is good. i eat 3 bits of fruit everyday and a swag of vegetables. when ive got grapes, berries etc from my yard i eat bags of the shit.
I also eat about 2 serves of mixed herbs a day. This is wherre i beelive we have gotten it very wrong with diets. From borage, dandelion, salad burnet, parsley, chives, garlic chives, garlic, sage, rosemary, nettle etc etc etc we can receive vast amount of nutrients. what are all those xpensive herbal supplelents full of? fkn dandelion and nettle half of em. Goes well with the foraging forest animal most primates are.
And this is where food as medicine comes into play. Why pay a chemist to cure(? fuck up yr liver etc) the cancer eating properly in the first place and feeding your immune system would have helped prevent?
I do keep chooks for eggs and meat and I fish for meat (and sport) too. When I get a bigger place i'll keep pigs for meat. Im not impartial to blowing a feral pig or bunnies earhole out either, and dont mind eating farmed roo at all.
:D

You know why dolphins are the smartest animals in the world?(yes thats right smartest animal, they are smarter than us believe it or not) It is because of their high protein diet. Fish makes your brain bigger because it contains a lot of protein, more than any red meat or eggs or chicken or whatever. Balanced is the key term here....and don't quit toking unless you feel it is taking over your life.
