You wanna get "Piper at the gates of Dawn" mate, it's their first album, and the only one with Syd. It's one of the most fucked up albums I've ever heard, and by far my favorite Pink Floyd album. Syd started going off his rocker half way through the recording of this album, listen to songs like "The Gnome" or "Bike" and you'll know what I mean.

Peace

Alright this is my thread.. Animals and Wish You Were Here, both only have 5 songs but are too amazing albums, the latter is my all time favorite..

Piper at the Gates of Dawn is also an amazing album as well, perfect for getting stoned and chilling out too, however dont expect the typical pink floyd sound...its almost like a different band.

And Syd Barret is also featured briefly on their second album "A Saucerful Of Secrets" which is also a great stoner album.

UmmaGumma is interesting to say the least...but I really wouldn't reccomend it..

Get Meddle...you wont regret it. Every Track is gold

Yes, animal is good, and yes it only has 4-5 songs. but one of the songs last for 20 minutes.

Wish you were here is good.

I have listened to a few of their cds but the wall is definitely the best. So if you already know the wall and are looking for a better cd than that, then you won't find one if you ask me.

The wall.
The Division bell.
Animals.

I saw Pink Floyd live in Phoenix Arizona. Great live show, the best concert I have ever seen. David Gilmore is one of the best guitarists. Excellent laser and special effects.

I think the best part is when the drummer went into a solo when they killed all the lights and his electronic drum sticks lit up it in multicolors and that is all you could see were these drum sticks in the dark, each time the sticks hit a drum it would turn a different color and he ramped up the pace. totally cool. At the end of the solo a huge "boom" and giant inflated pig with wings flew across the stadium. Smoke and laser effects the crowd was going wild. Hell of a good time! Ill never forget it.

Piper at the Gates of Dawn is classic Floyd. 11 songs. Originally released in 1967.

Meddle is by far their best album. Nothing like sparking up a bowl and spacing out to that shit.

I think A Saucerful of Secrets is their best or comes even with Meddle. The song Remember A Day is a spin out.

also watch the film "the wall"....the album is the soundtrack to the film so as you can probly imagine...the film is AWSOME!! you could probly get it off a torrent site or somthing with ease.

There's just so many good Floyd albums. All of the ones already mentioned are great. The soundtrack to the film More is also pretty awesome. They're just starting to get that Meddle/Dark Side sound but the songs are much shorter, probably becaus it's a soundtrack. Still some great stuff.

Anyone like Roger Waters' Pros and Cons of Hitchhiking? It was Waters' first post-Floyd album but he wrote it at the same time he wrote The Wall so it still is very Foydish. Eric Clapton takes Gilmore's place on guitar. I saw Waters in concert when he was touring with this Album back in '84 or '85. It was the first real concert I had ever been to and totally blew my mind.

Personally I think the wall is just a tad bit overated...I mean it's good and all...but doesn't seem as solid as many of their other albums.

A Saucerful of Secrets is the best album of all time to listen to on opiates (morphine, codeine, etc..)
