High. I know there are a lot of cliches, but I, personally, do feel an elevated mind state. Reading is much much better :)
And you hear things in music you normally dont pay attention to. Maybe a single lyric, or individual note.

I regard the words "high" and "stoned" as synonyms. There's no difference, in my book. I smoke to get high, stoned, blazed, fucked up, monged, fried, baked, mashed, trashed and smashed. I just want some THC in my bloodstream, and the more the better!

I was listening to Rooster by Alice in Chains and I noticed his voice repeats the last note in the part "You know he ain't gonna die" and the "die" trails off for like 2 seconds and it's crazy, and I had never noticed it before, but it's pretty awesome!

To me, stoned is that feeling of total calm after smoking, just being totally into the birds chirping or the feelign of a hot bath. Getting high is more active - playing CoV and giggling the entire time at my character who appears to be wearing no pants.

Of the two, I prefer stoned. I love that almost spiritual feeling of sitting outside after smoking, listening to nature. I spend hours wondering what it's trying to say.

But, that's just my take.
