Well I left my computer on all night because I was d/l some games. When I woke up my computer was making a weird beeping noise like if you hold down too many keys on the keybord (on some computers) it makes a weird ass noise. Now I reset my computer and it keeps saying "sync. out of range" on the monitor and my computer makes a weird non stop beeping noise. I looked in it, nothing look fried, looked under my graphics card all's fine... Any idea? It has only been about 2 hours since it happened and i'm about to go to work so thanks in advance if you have any ideas. I'm on my bros comp right now so i'll try my comp when I get home and come back here when I can :(

un plug it from the wall, blow out the usb connections, and jiggle each key, litely, than wait an hour or two and plug it back in, if it still is froze or whatever the problem is, call a pro computer doctor guy.

Don't know for certain.
But seeing as you was downloading games,
I'd guess you were using kazaa or another crappy piece of P2P software.
THEY ARE FREQUENTED WITH WANT TO BE HACKER "SCRIPT KIDDIES", FILLED WITH "CRAPPY SOFTWARE" THAT TURN INTO VIRUS AND MANY MANY OTHER BAAAAAAAAAAD THINGS!
my advice to you is to check trend micro's free online virus scanner, do a search on google.com for trend micro housecall and you'll find it, its free, reliable and gets rid of virus's.
By the sound of things, someone's either fucked around with your onboard speaker or setup a virus to do that.

What a bunch of wan*ers.

hMm..my computer hates being turned off. it makes a non-stop beeping noise and fu..uh..messes up. the way i fix that is...

step 1. cry
step 2. unplug the power supply from the computer, not the wall plug or what have u
step 3. wait 20 seconds
step 4. plug it back in and turn the power on
step 5. cry again for good measure.

i dont know if that will help you, but it's like a 30 second thing you could try. be sure not to get any bodily fluids near the electrical sockets!

just because things dont look fried, doesn't mean it isn't fried or messed up in some way. An error like that tells me its a hardware problem.. same with the way you're describing it. I suggest you get it looked at... If you have extra video cards or motherboards lying around, I suggest u try putting them in to test it. That is really all you, or anyone else can do.

im guessing its a hardware bassed problem as well from the sound its making that means somthing isnt loading properly. Like godsbackyard said if you have any extra parts (cpu, motherboard, vidio card) trade them out and see where you get. Its kind of hard to troubleshoot a problem like this without actully looking at the computer myself.

Step By Step.

1) Press power button.

2) Turn on monitor.

3) Error message on monitor turns on, Computer doesn't load at all it's just on.

I can't mess with the computer at all because it doesn't even practicly turn on, just an error message on my monitor.

All I have is another graphics card, i'm about to try that. Thanks for the suggestions.

I dont know, you say you were downloading. Go to a friends house, create a boot disk then take it from there. Saying that though....xp is a bootable disk mate...if all else fails reformat. Buttttttttt...I cant stress how important Norton anti-virus is....i had avg and found it crap. Norton is the ONLY software I ever bought and is also a bootable disk. Noooooooooooooo, I dont work for Norton lol lol lol

Good luck mate...but remember...ya can reformat if it still goes tits up

if its your tower that beeps its either your vid,mem or power supply and its probably overheating (they all usually in mos set ups will give warning beeps) also if its your monitor your tube if its a crt might be slightly cracked but not damaged enough I know viewsonic monitors come auto with hardware monitoring "hardwar" installed it usually beeps and you can see it blinking through the grill at back (ventilation). check your bios settings where it gives cpu temp, and check your video card temp and mem temp there are tons of progs that do and depending on your bios it might even be all in there(the temps that is) until you find out what exactly is beeping anything you try is hit and miss. I suggest if its overheating though(I had same prob with beeps, it was a mem chip) putting a "normal" fan on an angle so it blows right into intake of tower (alot of the time towers dont intake enough "cool" air moving air is always cooler than stagnant so try it and if it doesnt work try the others until you find out what exactly it it.) 9 times out of 10 you take it "the professionals" and they have no idea either because there are too many different companies and hardware available for any human being to know it all. so dont' waste your money. Because they charge through the nose....

sorry about those spelling mistakes ppl im a little baked to make an understatement(and if you've got a plasma screen and its making the noise no ideas on my end I hate those things)

how old is the computer? I am pretty sure its a hardware problem w/ that error. I doubt it had anything to do with the download if you're saying you can't even boot to the bios ( which i think is what you're saying )

that is called a bios beep. means many things. try unplugging and replugging everything in. i mean everything. take your video card and everything like that and try to plug em back in. if that does not work. you might have a bad bios chip on your mother board. and thats a bitch to fix. just lettin you know
