Any jazz fans here? Im talkin bout some of that John Coltrane, Wayne Shorter, Chris Potter, you know, bebop/hardbop/fusion/contemporary type shit. Im a jazz musician myself and play sax. When you're stoned, this music, listening and performing, is unbelievable. Improvisation man.

I'm in a jazz band at my school and play piano. I also have a band that I play with my friends and we have a kind of jazzy sound. Were actually more of a jazz/funk/punk/blues/jam/rock band if that makes sense. We wanted to call ourselves frankenstein because I'm kind of a jazz pianist, our bass player has a really funky vibe, our drummer is straight up rock and our guitarist is a crazy metalhead. Instead, we decided to call ourselves Fikus (hense my name). most people would think it wouldnt mix and most people are suprised were even friends because we hang out in different groups but I think thats what makes us sound so good. anyway, we want to start playing for other people as opposed to just playing for our enjoyment. weve made some really lo-fi recordings of us jamming but were saving up to get some studio time. who knows, maybe well make it big. Oh, and were hiring this kid to make us a website. ill post a link to it when he's done

I'm into jazz. About five years ago or so was the first time I heard Miles' Kind of Blue and it opened up a whole new musical realm to me. Coltrane followed then Monk, Mingus and others. I play a little guitar myself but I'm not very good with improvisation.. especially after a smoke, I keep trying though. Wes Montgomery and Kenny Burrell are probably my most listened too jazz guitarists, good stuff. I've really only just started to get into fusion... it's cool sound while stoned.

its not like we suck or anything, its that we dont have very many mics and recorded it all onto an 8 track in one take. I could find the original somewhere but that would require getting off my ass and moving around. I've picked the tracks apart and am editing them on the computer so they sound halfway descent. Ill see if i can get my friend to email this one jam we do called Brainworm

I love jazz. I've got this disc thats a combo of Miles, Coltrane, and Dave Brubeck that I love to listen to with headphones when I'm really high. I especially like to go somewhere with a lot of people. like downtown San Francisco, and just wander about with the headphones, high as a kite, lost in my own little jazz world oblivious to those around me.

I like a lot of the older vocal jazz stuff too. Like Ella Fizgerald, Billie Holiday, Louis Armstrong. The version of Summertime done by Ella and Louis together is just classic.

well the guy we have right now is unbelievable he just plays to damn loud and is into all these crappy 80's metal bands. he backs off and plays in a more blusey style but he keeps trying to get us to play these heavy metal songs he writes. Ive been thinking about maybe just taking over guitar because im pretty good on that too but i cant play guitar and sing at the same time. what we really need is a good singer because i hate my voice. I can hit all the notes and I dont get off pitch very often but i just dont like my voice. it doesn't capture your attention like the music does.

ok, heres something i found. i made this with my acoustic piano and my keybord using the sequencer. I recorded the acoustic part later. it's just a chord progression I came up with that I like to solo over. We recorded it together as a band but I dont have that recording and this one is actually of better quality. its just to give u an idea of the style of music we usually play.

I like all kinds of music. From Jazz to hard rock.

Typically jazz when with a girl in the mood and heavy rock when lifting weights, just depends.

I'll download it. I've been meaning to check out weather report for awhile now, they kept coming up as "you may also like" section when I would search for Herbie Hancock. Is it similar?

A good jazz rock band is morphine. It is this band that pretty much only has a 4 string bass, sax and drums. There are a few songs with some guitar. I suggest all of you buy their cds or download their music.

Yeah Iâ??m into jazz. The "Wayne Shorter years" with Miles. Incredible. My favorite Miles/Wayne album is Nefertiti. My favorite Coltrane is "Play the Blues"! Giant Steps is a close second... ;)
I'm also into Monk, Mingus, Satchmo, Ornette Coleman, Eric Dolphy, SONNY (mf) ROLLINS, Stan Getz, Cannonball Adderley.. Just to name a fewâ?¦ LOL

Itâ??s too bad there are not more people into jazz nowâ?¦

I love jazz but I'm more into heavier music, so mostly what I own that is jazzy is metal... like Atheist and Cynic and The Dillinger Escape Plan and Mastodon or whatever else...
