I am growing a single plant in a small (1.5ftx3ft) closet. Unfortunately I think it is a male as its been in 12/12 for about a week and I am starting to see ball like growths at the nodes.

It is my first grow that has succesfully gotten to the flower stage so I want to keep growing it even if its a male, just so I can gain some experience for future grows.

My question is, even though it is the only plant, do I have to worry about pollen staying in the closet and pollenating future grows somehow. I am worried that if I allow the male plant to fully flower that the pollen will somehow get on the walls or something and then pollenate one of my girls I hope to have in there in a few months.

Is this a possibility? If so is it not worth the risk?
Also, lastly, how long do I have before the preflowers open up and could potentially release pollen.

Thanks,

It needs only one male in a 400 meter radius that might pollenate, to ruin your female buds. That's what i've read. Destroying the male is a must, i think, because even if you keep your male in the cellar and the females in the attick, you yourself might accidentaly pollenate your plants.
That's why god created animals :p
When the preflowers exactly open, that i don't know. The more experienced guys will surely tell you

I have seen plants get ruin, your female from 1 1/2 miles away if the wind was up, in the house. you grow the male wash every thing down good for the next grow or poke poke and she got.

Thanks. I understand the immense distances pollen can travel. I dont have any plants that could potentially be pollenated though, and I could care less if there is someone 2 miles away from me growing, LoL. So what I am really asking are two things:
1. If pollen did get on the walls, would it still be able to pollenate a plant 2-3 months later in the same closet?
2. How long do I have before the preflowers release pollen?

Thanks again,

It`s totally up 2 u but personally i wouldn`t take the risk!
u`d be far better off cutting that male down and starting over agen than holding onto it and risking any future grows that u might have planned.
Your not really going to gain anything at all by keeping that plant alive and u have quite a lot to lose!!
i`d far rather bin it now than be kicking myself in say 6 months time when u have a few nice females that u`ve spent a lot of time and money on and end up producing nothing!!!
In My Humble Opinion!!

First what strain is it ? Second do you want to keep it to make seeds of your own ? A cross or something. If you don't want it for seed, axe it now and save a headache. Otherwise it will bust the pods at the first sign of white hairs on females which is about 3 weeks. It will keep busting them till almost no more hairs develope. What do you want to do ?

Can I get seeds from a LONE male plant? I thought it had to pollenate a female to produce seeds? If the male will produce seeds on its own then I think I will keep it b/c its northern lights and was an extremely succesful grow and Id love to see how a female will turn out.

You need a male and a female to produce seeds

Kill it now, you've learned all you're going to with this plant. No reason to keep it.

The pollen will probably not effect your future grows, but I wouldn't take the risk.
