but turns out, I think (haven't been diagnosed) I have anxiety.
I think it might be psychological because all of a sudden I can't smoke marijuana anymore (I know that can bring out anxiety & I think maybe it did), can't smoke cigarettes anymore (don't know why), and can't drink coffee anymore (that just started suddenly) because I start having a panic attack. I also can't even light incense, which has to be psychological.

3 months ago I had a huge panic attack & I just stopped. It took 3 months to get over it & i think i'm ready to get out of this drug free lifestyle.
I don't even want anything to do every day, just sometimes like once a week maybe, I can't afford any more really.
Anyway.....are amphetamines bad for anxiety? Like a 5mg adderall (I have a low tolerance)

Also, would Valium, Xanax, or Lortabs be bad for anxiety? I know they're supposedly supposed to help it, but with me they'd probably backfire. I'd never be able to get them from a doctor, but i would take it recreationally but mostly as self-medication.....

I've been to erowid & all that, but it doesn't say how common the "bad" effects are......
and will alcohol worsen anxiety? i don't want to not drink anymore :( i feel like a noob

stimulants (aside from maybe mdma) will most likely worsen your anxiety. So will weed, at least in my experience. I have heard caffeine can trigger panic attacks in people with panic disorder, so maybe staying away from that would help. The benzodiazepines (xanax, valium) will almost definitely reduce your anxiety/panic. I took a whole bunch of Klonopin one day, and stumbled around nyc in an apathetic daze. Even had a run-in with a cop in the subway, which would normally freak me out a bit, as i have a cop phobia. I didn't give a shit what he was telling me.

As for alcohol, for me it reduces anxiety considerably, but I've also heard something about alcohol triggering feelings of panic. Trent Reznor of NIN has said in recent interviews that when he was drinking heavily, he would often have severe panic attacks. Does anyone have any more info on why this would be? It doesn't yet make sense to me.

You might also want to consider cognative behavioral therapy to deal with your stress/anxiety issues. I'm going through it now for social anxiety and depression and it's helping immensely. But hang in there. Panic attacks suck, i know. Believe me, I've been there. Take care.

I wouldn't say any of them are bad for anxiety, but their addiction forming, especially if your overcoming an addiction to begin with. I don't know how this all goes if all your doing is smokin weed and drinking. My ex was prescribed to xanax/paxil after being addicted to crack for about 6 months (I'd love to slap the doctor that did that) for his anxiety, and when he took /normal/ doses of it it did seem to help. That shit changed him a lot, and if he was on regular medication and not abusing it then he ended up getting in the swing of things. When he ran out of those meds he started relapsing so, and ended up snortin' H and ODing. You just gotta make sure your body can handle the shit, and that your not gonna get hooked on it. It does calm your nerves quite a bit tho.
