peyote dose?

Well, I happen to have a relative that has a ranch here in S Texas close to the Mexican border, and alot of peyote grows on her land. sometimes those indians with a peyote license or w/e pay her to get peyote from the ranch. lucky me I guess.
I suppose I can get hooked up next time we visit her. but i was wondering, what is the average dose for a good trip that lasts about 2-3 hours? it says nothing about it on Erowid.

Let me know if u guys have any info.

Peyote will generally last about 8-10 hours of prominent effects, 2 hours of returnin to baseline, and after effects of anythin up to 12 hours. Dosage depends on the size of the cactus and of course the potency, so u mite want to test it. 3cm diameter peyote, you will need around 8-10 for a trip that will last what I described at the beginning of the post. For bigger ones like 5-6cm diameter heads, you'll need 3-5, 6 if ure stomach can take it. Some ppl hav problems with nausea and others don't, oh and if uve ever seen fear and loathin in las vegas, you will know the notoriety of waiting for this to come on, took me 3 hours, and within 15 minutes I was literally on my back, gr8 trip, ultimate bliss, incredibly detailed visuals, mad auditory modifications.

From what I have briefly read on Peyote, you have to pick the buttons and dry them. They don't have spines so you will not have to worry about sticking yourself or peeling them.

Uh here's some things from erowid I just found about consumption:

"Orally - This is the most common, and traditional way to consume Cactus. Peyote is almost always consumed whole, slowly being sucked and chewed before swallowing. The fresh, frozen, liquefied, crushed, dried , powdered, whatever, portion of Tricocereus or Lophophora are taken by mouth. Details in methods of preparation section.

Pill - Another popular method of oral ingestion is putting the dried, finely powdered solid or extract inside of a number of large 000 size gelatin pills. Helps eliminate gagging due to the bitter taste.

Rectally - Several African cultures traditionally ingest hallucinogens via an enema. Although Western society imposes a social bias against this method, it is effective and safe. It also helps to alleviate a great deal of the nausea and cramping that can accompany oral ingestion. It is advised that individual enemas are used in a group situation, to reduce the chance of disease spread.

Vaginally - About half of our population qualifies to pursue this method of ingesting psychoactive substances. Moist, finely powdered Cactus material or extraction (make sure all solvent is evaporated out of sample) can be inserted into the vagina, and should be absorbed quite well through the lining. This method was used by witches in the middle ages to absorb solanaceous plant juices. Has all the benefits of an enema, just not as messy. Volume could be a problem however.

Snuff - I have read several reports of Mexican Indians grinding and snuffing different species of visionary Cacti. I personally would not recommend this method as it can cause irritation, sneezing, nose-bleeds. Many people find snorting as objectionable and would prefer a less painful method.

Injection - Pure mescaline can be injected for the desired effect. Not a practical method, as pure mescaline is now quite rare on the street. I would be very, very, sure of what I had before main- lining it. Also consider what filler if any is used.

Smoking - Peyote will burn after it has been well dried and powdered. It is then usually smoked in combination with marijuana. It is supposed to result in a light, lovely high that sharpens vision without causing a strong trip. High heat may destroy some of the alkaloids however."

Just my opionion, I would aim for the first two methods. Good luck and have fun, I'd consider yourself very lucky indeed for having access quite literally in your own backyard (or family's yard.)

And when harvesting the cacti, try and only cut the head off without causing damage to the root, this will result in the cacti sprouting multiple heads and carryin on growth, so within a year or so, you will be lookin at a freaky multi headed cactus, that will once again be ready to harvest, as opposed to destroyin the whole thing and waitin over 15 yrs for another seed grown cactus to reach maturity. I got a few multi heads in my window from when I harvested my first batch a year ago, they're growin nicely and should be ready within the next year.

you can also boil it and make a tea. according to a friend of mine, he saw a poster of pamela anderson talk to him.

oh and what city is this ranch in? i have one in zapata and another in roma but haven't found any peyote yet.

I am SO jealous, I've been dying to try peyote for awhile.. I researched it (just read this great book, 'Peyote: the Divine Cactus') and wrote a paper on it and its role in Native American religion for this Ethnomusicology class I took.. got an A in the class :D

But anyway, I've taken acid once, and shroomers about 4 times so I really really want to try Peyote or mesc sometime!!
