1) You only have your own blood running through your veins. Blood is not transferred genetically. Your blood is your own, with your own unique DNA in it.
2) He is probably about as likely as you to be a direct genetic descendant of these people. Jews, more than most other peoples, have migrated and interbred extensively with other populations over the millennia.
3) So what? I might be a direct descendant of the person who invented fire, but I'll never know. Even if I was, it wouldn't really matter much. It's who we are in the present that matters, not who our ancestors were. That kind of thinking only leads to racism and xenophobia.

Being a Jew has more to do with nationality than religion. It's just that religious tradtion is more intertwined with their nationality than most groups. I think its cool to look back out our history and see where we came from.
