So for the second time me and my girlfriend have gotten to eat for free at this one friendlys not too far from our houses.
The first time was because the place wasn't super busy, but after crappy service and waiting in line to pay, there were 2 groups in front of us that had been waiting for a few minutes. We waited for about 5 minutes or so and there were still 2 groups in front of us and people still waiting to be seated and people behind us. It was ridiculous so we left.
We of course went back to it several times and the service still sucked. Tonight a friend of ours who usually doesn't have much money (Marcy) offered to take us out for dinner at Friendlys.
Of course as usual, we have to keep waiting for everything, she never brought my soup and we see her putting her winter coat on after we're waiting for her to come take our dirty appetizer plates away finally, etc. Finally our entres come by some other waitress, and I ask her if I can have my soup, she asks what kind and walks away. It's about 9:30PM, they're open until like midnight. Anyway the lady comes back and is like, oh we're out of chicken noodle soup, that must be why she didn't bring you any, she didn't tell you? I mumbled nope.
Finally half way done with our food, our waitress asks if I still want that soup because she can warm some up or something. I said definitely so she brings it out, and it's not the same soup that I always go there for, it is a crappy version. Finally we get our desserts, which were yummy, and our bill.
We went to Friendlys because it's cheap, and Marcy only wanted to spend like $10 for each of us to eat, so I gave an extra $8 just to add some more money and so I can get my soup. The bill ends up being $42 which isn't horrible, but we were expecting it to be like $7 cheaper or something.
So at this point I decide to see if I can get the price down at all. We tell the waitress that we thought appetizers were supposed to be half off after 8pm, which was 100% true, I kept telling my girlfriend and Marcy that I didn't see that little sign, but they ignored me, anyway the waitress said that ended a few weeks ago.
So the next time I saw the waitress I asked to speak with her manager. The manager comes over and you can tell that she just isn't in a talkative mood. She looks like I inconvenienced her by making her come to our table. I pretty much start by telling her that I'm complaining because the service sucked, the appetizers used to be 1/2 off, and she starts going on about how the specials aren't always permanent and they're not required to inform us that these specials had ended, etc. I say, "Well that's great" and continue on. She interrupts to say more since I said that's great. I tell her how while I'm waiting for my soup, our waitress it putting on her jacket. Of course the manager starts to say they had a bad night and the lady hasn't had a chance to take a break all night except for the 2 minutes that she did.
Well when we walked in and the entire time, it was dead, maybe from the foot of snow on the ground? Anyway, she was sitting with other waitresses talking. Plus we didn't see our waitress for atleast 10 minutes or so, so don't tell me 2 minutes.
At this point I'm pissed because the manager is starting to sound like she has an attitude, when all I'm doing is bitching about the service, etc. Even worse, she won't let me speak because she keeps going on and on and on. I interrupt her by saying, "Can I talk please?" and of course my girlfriend and Marcy start giggling each time I say something funny or whatever, but I'm mad and being serious.
Finally the manager grabs the receipt and pretty much snaps at us as she's quickly walking away saying, I'll take care of your bill have a good night. She was obviously mad, and that wasn't my intention, but she was a horrible manager just like her waitress. We all are smart so we didn't argue, we got up and left before anyone changed their mind.
Can you believe how shitty our service was? Marcy pointed out that me being an asshole sometimes, for once came in handy. Little does she know it's come in handy many many many times.
