Hey guys, I'm just trying to get a little attention due to the musicians of the boards. I myself happen to be a Jazz guitarist on papers and a rock musician by trade. Who else out there knows how to clunk out a note or two?

I play the djembe and digeridoo, piss around on my buddies drum kit, and am slowly picking up acoustic guitar and experimenting with blues harp.
My main passion is my djembe, tribal style.

i play guitar, i have been playing for about 15 years. I can play the drums too, and the bass. I can program drum tracks off of programs sutch ass fruity loops and acid pro. funky do you have a digeridoo? ever heard of soulfly they use them all the time. thats the one that looks like a bow with a gord at the bottom? always wanted one.

Jazz guitarist? ever heard of alex scolnick? used to play heavy metal but quit and started to play jazz, he is insain.

Alex Scolnick...hmm the name sounds familiar, but I dont him off hand. I wont lie, I went thought school as a Jazz guitarist, but my knowledge of modern Jazz guitarist is very limited. I did study under Larry Carlton for a few months. I do listen to quite a bit of older jazz stuff, good ole' Winston, Contrain, Ellington, guys like that.(I've also been playing sax for about 6 years, but I'm not as profound at sax as I am at guitar) I'm really big into intrumental music. Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, Eric Johnson, Yngwie Malmsteen, John Petrucci, guys like that.

i just saw yngwie, the other day..... he's pompus, but i'll give hime credit for being nasty. alex used to play for testement, left to persue a career in jazz music. he has put out solo jazz shit, i havn't heard it.

I saw malmsteen with G3(Vai and Satch) in 03 in DC. I wont lie, I like Malmsteen, but...he was the first to come out and play, and after an hour and half of neo classical arpeggios and legato scale runs, I wasn't complaining when Vai came out. lol

I've been playing guitar for over 8 years now :D

I hardly ever practice though, so one might say I started playing 8 years ago :)

I play guitar, been playing for the last 13yrs or so. I play everything, from hard rock-punk-blues-raggae-whatever sounds good at the time of my stoning :D.

Although, for the past few weeks I haven't touched my guitar. I need some people to jam with, I'm getting bored. After so many years, playing guitar solo gets a little stale.

I've been playing electric guitar for 14 years. Started out learning Rush then Hendrix, and now I'm just waiting for the right musicians to start a band with so we can cure the World, through Music.

If you like John Petrucci, he did an album with a man named Jordan Rudess (keyboardist from dream theater) called "an evening with..." Its pretty good, very mellow. There is no signing its just the two of them.

I play drums at the moment, ive been playing for about 5 years, before that i played saxophone which i played for 6 years and before that i plyed guitar....sadly my teacher retired so I stopped....I can play piano, recorder ;), digeridoo....thats about it...oh i learnt a little bit on the ocarina....lol....music is pretty much all i do out of college.

True story. Many years ago before I got into the wider spectrum of music, I wont lie, I was into whatever was on the pop/mainstream radio stations. My uncle has a recording studio, and I had started going over there to watch his band practice. One night after practice, my uncle and his bandmates were all sitting around drinking, and my uncle put the "Moving Pictures" (a rush album for all of those who are unfamiliar with Rush) on through the studio PA. I remember sitting there listening to YYZ, and after that, I vowed thats what i wanted to do, and I have been playing guitar ever since. Now I'm a music major in college and I have rush to thank! Oh, and if anybody ever gets a chance to see these guys live, GO! They put on a hell of a show. I saw them last summer in Nashville for the first show of their 30th year anniversary tour, and I'll never be the same again. Now if Van Halen would go back on tour, I'd die a happy man lol

It's all about the drums.

I just got a job, so now I'm finally gonna start taking lessons. Gee, Funk, what style? Hmmmmm.... maybe FUNK? Also, Funk has a few things in common with Jazz drums, and I'd like to get into that too.

Although, I don't have my priorities strait. My musical to-do list is:
- Upgrade my big wet steamer of a set
- Get lessons
- Get some Steel Drums

I haven't decided which comes first.

And FUCK YES on the Rush. Rush is all. All is Rush. Well, most is Rush, some is Dream Theater.

But shit man, 2112 and Animate are probably the best songs ever fucking written.

"Vapor Trails" is the last album and it's awesome.

It's best to go with a compilation, "Rush in Rio", though live, is a good choice.

I saw there 30th anniversary tour in Virginia Beach, the second time I saw them in an outdoor ampitheatre, and the fifth time I saw them (three times in Albany, NY).

I've been playing the guitar for about 7 or 8 years.
I've been playing the bass for about the same, i love the bass
I played the saxaphone for about 7 years and the trombone for 4
When I went to basic training, they made me play the baritone.
I really wanna learn the drums, thats looks so friggin awesome.

If anyonw lives near central OH and wants to jam, let me know, I'm up for it.

Here are some fo the diff albums I recommend

2112 - The epic album. Its all kinda one big song, so take it as you will. I will say, this cd does show what rush is all about.

Moving Pictures - This album has alot of of the more popular songs on it. "YYZ" "Tom Sawyer" and I think "limelight" is also on it. One of my personal fav cds.

Rush:Live in Rio - This is prolly my fav cd. Its a 3 cd live concert, and has just about every great rush song on it. It is live and its mixed a little wierd(very guitar heavy) but I still love, and this is what I personaly would tell you to get

Vapor Trails - Rush's newest cd. Alot of poeple didn't like it, its very guitar driven like old rush, kinda an edgy rock. I enjoyed the cd, but pick it up at your own risk.

MY APOLOGIES! lol But honestly, I prefer the drum solo from "YYZ" off the "Exit Stage Left" album. BUT, I love the intrumental "Leave That Thing Alone" that leads into the drum solo on Rio.

That's awesome. As an Instrumental, I like Limbo. Off of "Test For Echo". A great song, I mean, awesome song off of Vapor Trails (besides six of the first seven songs) is "Nocturne".

Did I have a dream? Or did the dream have me?

I play guitar, bass, keyboard, and my brand spankin' new accordian. My fiancee has a drum set she doesn't know how to play so I guess soon they're mine. I've written stuff for other insruments. My whole apartment is filled with instruments of mine and my roommate's.

I've been playing guitar for 2 years and play every day. I like all styles but the blues is defintely my favourite. My teacher is Joe Konas who also loves the blues and once played with Jimi Hendrix when he lived in London. Here are a couple sites about him, if you search you can find him playing with Jimi Hendrix, I love having him as my guitar teacher.

Guitar since around '65, also bass and a little keyboard. Hendrix was a major influence. Also have been acoustic/fingerpicking quite a while.

I'm an acoustic singer/songwriter (currently forming a band). I guess I accedently stumbled upon the bandwagon. No pun intended. Some say I sound too much like Elliott Smith (but I'm sure much worse). Maybe we'll have some music up soon. It could be interesting. It's 2 singer/songwriters, a cello/bassist, violin, percussionist (of many sorts). We equal out to a Built To Spill meets Elliott Smith with a bit of a darker influence. I may be intersting... probably not though!
