Goldberg, Moore and Orwell (was)Deconstructing Whoopi - a Republican Fires Back (http://freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1173995/posts)
Self | 07-17-04 | George F. Spicka

"In response to being fired by Slim-Fast for her lewd and outrageous anti-Bush diatribe at John Kerry's exclusive, closed-door fundraiser on July 8th, the now-infamous Radio City "Hate Fest," Whoopi Goldberg stated that "America's heart and soul is freedom of expression without fear of reprisal." A close reading of Ms. Goldberg's remarks divulges Hollywood's fundamental misunderstanding of the First Amendment and the freedom of expression." - Jonathan M. Stein

- It should also be noted that Whoppi Goldberg is a just celebrity. She's not a statesman, a diplomat, or even a historian. Her hate-filled diatribe reveals that not only is she ignorant in these matters, but that she is also deficient in what one might call a ??soul,? and if one proclaims to be a ??humanitarian," one MUST posses a soul.

- This is not to say that she or others shouldn't protest the policies of George W. Bush, but one has to wonder, why aren't all of these ??humanitarians? out there protesting on a regular basis, for the rights of woman in middle east, Arabic, Islamic countries, where females are nothing more then chattel, and where they are subject to barbaric practices like clitorectomies?

- In nations like Sudan, there is still slavery and persecution of the "non-faithful." Where is Whoppi and the other protesters? Don??t they really care?

- In Iraq, it was no secret that Saddam killed large numbers of his own countrymen in his quest for supremacy. I don??t recall a singe episode of any of these self-proclaimed peaceniks making a strong statement against this or any of the other numerous atrocities that have occurred throughout the world in recent times, unless, of course, they think it??s the policy of the United States that has erred, which will cause them to scurry out the closet in droves.

- It is no wonder that George Orwell has said that anarchists and pacifists see only what they want to, and that, ??All humanitarians are hypocrites.?

- And speaking of Orwell and the Radio City ??Hate Fest,? in the concluding scene of Fahrenheit 9/11, Michael Moore alludes to the ??fact? that George W. Bush is leading us into the world of George Orwell's ??Nineteen Eighty-Four.? This ??Orwellian? threat is a common left-wing intelligentsia statement against conservatives and the United States in general. The gross ignorance of Moore??s claim is revealed in that fact that if he had really read and understood what Orwell was all about, he would know that even though Orwell was no friend of conservatives, in essay after essay, Orwell constantly warns that the greatest threat against individual liberties will come from the left, via the ??sinister? way they used propaganda, distorted information, half-truths and outright lies in order to manipulate our thoughts.

- Nineteen Eight-Four wasn??t about George W. Bush. It was about Michael Moore.

- In ??Orwell for Beginners,? David Smith describes Nineteen Eighty-Four as a, ??Slogan filled (??Anybody but Bush??) hate-world.? Again, this is not to say that one shouldn??t protest against authority, but one does have to question whether such protest is indeed, for humanitarian purposes and ??liberation? from oppressors.

- In Nineteen Eighty-Four, there is the daily ??Two Minutes Hate.? It is strikingly similar to Fahrenheit 9/11 in that citizens view a movie, depicting the despised ??enemy? leader. The whole intent is to arouse hatred in the audience, a hatred of which Orwell says about (via George Winston), ??The horrible thing about the Two Minutes Hate was that one was not obliged to act a part, but that it was impossible to avoid joining in.? The effect was to create a society of non thinking drones, and control them by means of arousing intense hatred which prevented them from reasoning.

- One of the commentaries I read about Fahrenheit 9/11 described it as just that, a movie who??s intent was to inspire hate. Which leads us back to my first sentence, that real humanitarians MUST posses a soul. So why is that Goldberg, Moore and other apostles of the left are instead, preaching a message of hate? What is the real intent?

- Once again, it is Orwell who offers an answer, an answer that must be responded to if we wish to prevent our society from further slipping into the realm of totalitarianism ?

??The masses, it seems, have vague aspirations towards liberty and human brotherhood, which are easily played upon by power-hungry individuals and minorities. So that history consists of a series of swindles, in which the masses are first lured into revolt by the promise of Utopia, and then, when they have done there job, enslaved over again by new masters.? - George Orwell, "Second Thoughts On James Burnham" George F. Spicka
