List of Strains/names?

any one know of a web site that lists all different strains and a description of effects. there are so many out there - when buying flowers i feel like a retard cause i never heard of 1/2 of these strains. when trying new types it would be nice if there was a reference to consult. it's hit or miss for me - looks good lets try it. an oz of rosemary's baby for 300, sure i'll give it a try.... any body???

yeah man just pop over to the strainguide on overgrow.com, they have a list of over 900 commercial strains

thanks....... but i'm getting some "freezeland" shortly.... didnt find it on this massive list. do people just make these names up or what???

over 900 is a good start

but such a list simply does not, and never will, exist. there are literally thousands on top of thousands of different strains and hybrids. once a hybrid becomes stable it can remain a hybrid or the breeder can rename it as a new strain. it is impossible to identify a strain by inspecting a plant or flowers, or even smoking them. a good guess can be made, and it will clearly exhibit any indica / sativa traits, but the actual strain is anyone's guess. so don't feel stupid if you haven't heard of a particular strain, there isn't a single grower or smoker out there who has heard of even half of the strains that exist.

There are soooo many...but strainguide is the best for info.Some people don't give the strains the proper respect and are only in it for the money.So to find a true strain usually you have to grow it yourself or move to Cali. and go to the Co-Op.Otherwise the only time your going to get a specific strain from a dealer is if it's your best friend.

There was one website that did have the list. Cannagenetics.com had the very best information around. The lady who owned it got busted in her home country and lost everything trying to keep a list like that active.

So there may not be any good ones right now but there was one last year and there will be one again in the future. I am working on trying to bring back CGI or something close. I still have a lot of the orgional data.

Dr Greenthumb sells a "Big Laughing" strain that I haven't been able to find much info on period. The most info I've found is what he told me, that it's a Iranian strain.
