The only "Prophet" that I know of is by Kahlil Gibran, which turned out to be his most masterpiece.

prophets are a dime a dozen and it's a fine line between prophet and "guy in a padded room with a nice jacket that buckles in the back"

I don't honestly believe that the future is carved in stone but rather quite fluid and can only be predicted in very general terms. sort of like the multiple timelines thing in that the future is determined by the decisions we make and the paths we choose both as individuals as well as a culture.
Cayce, Nostradamus, Zaphod, that nutcase Crowley..all made educated (or in Crowley and Zaphods case, drug induced) predictions that are so generalized that they could apply to almost any period in history with a little creative interpretation. That's why the rapture goofballs are still waiting on the mountain top. Not that they don't all have something to contribute to ones personal development, but don't take any of them too seriously.

Yes, you have some good points... but how can you explain this?

"Q- Give the names of the principal planets, and the influence on the lives of people.
A- Mercury, Mars, Jupiter, Venus, Saturn, Neptune, Uranus, Pluto.
Q- Are any of the planets, other than earth, inhabited by human beings or animal life of any kind?
A- No."

-The Edgar Cayce Companion, B. Ernest Frejer

Not only was he able to state the names of all the planets in our solar system accurately, but he was the first to believe that earth was the only planet in our solar system able to sustain life.. Something we wouldn't discover for half a century to come! Edgar Cayce was born in 1877, this reading was given in Cayce's middle aged years, putting us at 1910 or so for this particular reading. Apollo 11 (our first succesful launch into outer space) took off July 16th, 1969 UT 13:32:00 (09:32:00 a.m. EDT). How on EARTH can this guy be bullshit if he made such accurate predictions about matters that wouldn't be discovered for 70 years??? I mean hell we were all under the impression that there was life on mars until 10 years ago!

Know dat :)

I'd have to say that the jury is still out on Mars. Unless you mean sentient life...also there is still some question as to what's under all that ice on Europa.
Check out the website of James Randi for some interesting stuff on prophets and psychics. 99.9% of them are either scammers, or just really deluded.
