Wuhuuu!!!
Boy, am I happy to see your grow log! I'm also in the midst of growing White Widow... I'm growing my mother plants right now... so I can clone off them.
Your thread will be most valuable.
Quick Question: Did your plants have a 'slow growth'? Because my plants are growing and they look gorgeous, but damn! I wish they where growing faster...

I have a problem, my plants are growing into my fluorescent sidelight, heres a picture. I have to change it's position every day and the leaves are getting closer and closer to it I'm afraid it will get burned anyone got any ideas how I could put it without them almost touching it. The plant is now 6 days into 12/12, ideas on what I could yield off these girls? thanks

They stretch during these first few weeks of 12/12. You kind of have to be prepared to change the lights daily if you want to keep them as close as possible. Personally I'd ditch the little strip light. I'm not sure how much you are actually benefiting from it. I can't tell for certain but I'd also lower your light a bit. 250Ws don't run too terribly hot so you can easily keep them comfortable. Again, just be prepared to check and adjust daily.
Hearty looking plants!

I just raised my light because top leaves were getting burned (edges started to curl upwards). I'll put them down one notch, I don't think that the striplites doing much either, but I reckon I'll need more than 250 watts of light to get a nice yield off them. Only ever grown two plants under it at a time, I also have a heat shield so I can get pretty close. thanks

I don't think that floro will burn the plant much even if it did touch...just move it everyday until they stop stretching and you can find a final placment for it.

what soil are you using? just got my white widow and big bud in the mail yesterday. i am using miracle grow in the plants that i have now, and they are doing fine but when it comes to the white widow i want the best soil.

just some i picked up from a local garden store, a peat alternative made by a company called shamrock. I live in the UK so the companies may be different if you live in USA. I mixed with a bit of sand to help drainage but added nothing else. If you want the best soil go to hydro store, theyl sell you u some nice soil for a high price. I dunno about miracle grow, I dont like it although i think ppl hate it a bit too much lol.

thanks, buds are smaller than I hoped but their doing okay. My ww were quite strange growers, theyd grow really slow for a while and then have a massive growth spurt and then go slow again, I also had some nutrient and PH problems during veg and made me not enjoy the grow as much as usual. Good luck, I hope the bud is as strong as it is made out to be.

Amstron, they are looking really good. I have just started growing some lowrider, as my last attempt died after 2 weeks, I was wondering if you give a run down on your set up and all the equipment you have used. I have changed my set up and am now using 3 flouro lights, 1 at 2 inches above the plants, and 1 on either side. growing 2 plants. I have read loads on the net and have got a book, but simple to follow advise from another grower would be ace.

It's nice to see someone with the same low wattage HPS light as me is going to produce such a great yield. It inspired me better. Great job. I too would love to know the setup you use and more info about it.

hey, I've grown the plants the whole way on the 250 watt HPS light, draped mylar over the top and made a pretty enclosed tent with little light loss I'm now using 3 20 watt cfl sidelight in warm white. aswell, I used liquinure 8-4-4 veg fert for vegetative growth and flowered with canna bloom fert and a canna PK 13/14 bloom booster 1 week ago, I'm now using plain water. I have used like 7 gallon square pots. I used 18/6 light cycle and switched to 12/12 when plant 1 was 48 days 2. 54 days, and 3. 55 days. I then switched the lights to 11/13 2 1/2 weeks ago. I use a heat shield on the light and have a small hole in the roof letting air into the room, I then have a fan blowing air around the room. My temperature is ussually in the low 70's which isnt great but has done okay. thats about it really, my setup was even more basic and have kind of improved it as I went along. Ive got a question for anyone that knows, How long should a 250 HPS bulb last before changing it? thanks

thanks, i've been using mine for 2 years, guess i need a new one, mind you i havent been using constantly and have been experimenting so there have been gaps between grows

They are rated for use for about 2-2 and a half so I'd say yea you need a new bulb. Would you be a dear and get me the average temperature of your house, room, or the general area the plants are in. What I would like to know is what the temps would be in your grow room if the light was not there at all. Also I'd love to hear your insights as to how much the heat shield is working. I actually was looking at one of those a while ago and made a thread about it. Again since your grow is very similar to mine, I'd like to know as much as possible so I can improve my own. Thanks a lot.

ye, the heat shield is great, I've got the light within 6 inches of the highest bud, My grow area average temp with the light on is 71 and off 58 F, so its a bit cold but it doesnt seem to be affecting the plants much. I had a heater in ther but it was just a waste of electricity so I scrapped it. I topped the plants at 4 weeks, because I veg for a resonable amount of time the side branches came up and gave me a few nice sized buds. whats your grow setup? just interested to know.

Harvested one plant as it was fully mature, others will be another week or two, This is my smallest plant the others should harvest atleast double as much each.
