So, I've got a bunch of buddies who have been /obsessing/ about trying this peyote shit, along with acid, which I think is pretty fucked up anyway being that we just lost a friend to an OD but whatever. Problem is they think they're invincible and are in one of those states where they're just seeking shit to fuck them up.

Here's my question, and you can tell me how full of shit this is later: I've had a lot of people tell me that if you don't puke up the peyote it can kill ya, which is what's getting all them worried.

Basically, are they dumbasses for tryin' this shit when they've only fucked with weed/dxm/coke in the past, or is it alright?

no you cant die from peyote, that is unless you take a shit load of it and overdose on mescaline (which is extremely rare). they'll proberbly want to puke because it will taste nasty but if they dont they wont die.
mescaline is the chemical thats in peyote that makes you trip, its also in some other legal cacti such as san pedro and pervurian torch. mescaline is a really safe drug, i recently made a tea out of san pedro, i estimated i consumed around 400mg of mescaline based on the weight and size of the cactus. just make sure your friends now about dosages for peyote, have'em check out erowid.org

Peyote isn't a recreational drug. Peyote is a very spiritual experience. Pay it the respect it deserves or don't do it at all. I wish that it was never discovered by the western world. The native americans used it for hundreds of years to navigate the spirit relm. Mescaline is a very powerful entheogen that demands respect.

First off, your friend OD'd on what? Shrooms or Peyote or something? That is pretty fucking ludacris... you'd have to be a reckless jack n ape to OD on something like that. But if it was something else like Coke or seomthing... then there is no comparison to Peyote. It's not dangerous like that at all... it's actually a very safe drug. And about doing it just to get fucked up? I don't personally think that is the right way to do it as it is like syrrus said, a very spiritual experience and you could get more out of it that way. but you could use it just for fun... Mescaline is actually pretty plesent at medium doses. But at high doses you'll probably start tweaking and seeing crazy crazy shit... and then if you get worked up in that stage your brain isn't the part that's in trouble but it's the nervous system that is... so be careful. Sorry for rambling!1

that sucks to hear about your b/f. but psycedelic drugs tend to some of the safest drugs out there, mescalin you'd have to take an intentionally irresposible dose to die on, shrooms are extremly safe as is acid and a ton of other psycedlics. that is there safe if you research them and know all about dosage and use them in a safe envirment in a good state of mind (set and setting).

as far as addiction goes with psycedelics through personnel experience i have noticed that when ever i use one be it shrooms lsa mescalin 2c-i or whatever, i have no urge to trip on 'em right away again, extremly non-addictive. cause unlike an opiate or stimulant or even a dissaccociative, a psycedlic trip isnt always dominated by good feelings and it isnt always predictable, one trip you can have a quasi-religious experience next trip on the same drug and dose you can be left stuck in a nightmare for 6 hours.
