I'm pro-choice, so if abortion is the only possible option and you're both willing then I'd say go for it. And it actually isn't a breathing heart, it's just an embryo. But back on topic, there is a chance that she could get pregnant. If semen comes in contact with the vagina then it can get to the egg. When was the last time she had a period? Make sure she gets birth control. And go with her to a doctor, it's confidential, and just talk to them. You don't have to get an abortion, just discuss it with them and find out all the possible options. Do not force her or pressure her to abort if she does not want to. Suggest adoption, but be there for her, and if you aren't in good with her parents by now, I suggest you start kissing major ass.

Old thread, I know...but I can dispel the myth above through personal experience. My wife and I have twice gone through IVF. Part of the process is that your sperm count is checked and they make sure they're 'swimming' correctly.

The first time we went through IVF, I had stopped smoking about a month and a half before the testing. I did slip once but that was it. My sperm count was normal and healthy. I'm sorry, I don't remember the actual number.

The second time we did it, I was in a wierd place emotionally (because we had lost our son after the first try) and didn't stop smoking at all. My sperm count was actually higher the second time and still healthy.

However, keep in mind that I'm fairly healthy, try to excersise regularly and take care of myself, and take vitamins daily. So I'm pretty sure my overall lifestyle helped my results.

Can she get to the doctor today or to a planned parenthood clinic and ask for that morning after pill? That might be worth a try. It works like birth control and keeps the ovulation from happening and/or stops implantation. Anti-abortion folks think it's evil, but of course it's not. It works just like preventive birth control pills.

It is rare that you impregnate someone when the sperm does not enter the vagina. However, I have heard of a case where a virgin got impregnated. Yes, a virgin. She and her boyfriend had done everything other than actual insertion. She thought that because she had not been penetrated then she was ok. The fooled around a lot, rubbing, anal, and the such and all unprotected. Well, she went to the doc for some odd pains one day and he said she was pregnant. As you can guess, she was devestated and didn't believe it because she was still techinically a virgin. Sperm is a powerful little thing and if it ever enters the vagina you do have a chance to impregnate someone. My class met her and she gave us a good long speech about being safe by not doing ANYTHING. Thats just about all I can remember from my sex-ed class. So long ago, close to 8 or 9 years now. Im not trying to scare you or anything, just say that it is possible.
