I nominate Guns and Roses' Appetite For Destruction. Welcome to the Jungle, Paradise City, Mr Brownstone, etc...The hottest album around when it hit, LA scene in the 80's, this is the album. A talented group with "attitude" bleeding from every vain and plenty of contraversy. I was lucky enough to be in LA at the time. I saw an Aerosmith show where during the last song, Axl, Slash and Duff came out and played Train Kept A Rollin. Nice!!

This is very dissapointing. Does anybody actively search out for new music, rather than have it broadcasted to them on the radio or MTV?

This is very dissapointing. Does anybody actively search out for new music, rather than have it broadcasted to them on the radio or MTV?oh please tell us you have heard of a new magical type of music that is from the land of narnia that none of us have ever hear before.
korn - follow the leader...
there is something that every single person can like about this album. i love it 100% of the way through, im with the lyrics, guitar bass and drums for every note clashed because none of it was filler, all inspirational (if not to you then for me) and this is from the peak of korns career. WHO i happen to be seeing for the 3rd time next friday :> fuck yes.
cKy - Infiltrate Destroy Rebuild
its impossible to hate cky. there straight out of westchester, philly, and its exactly what u need rock music to sound like, Altho sticking tightly to the genre there are no 2 songs on this album alike, and from a band centerd some between the relms of punk, rock, and maybe even pop, this album will blow ur mind.. Sometimes when you listen to something, there is no other explanation for it besides the fact it "rocks" whatever exactly rocking is, this album fucking hits the mark.

Bob Dylan's, The Times They Are A-Changin' is defintely worthy of being in the Cannabis.com Album Hall of Fame. For the same reason all of his other albums should be in it. He's the most profound lyricist and poet. Screw Edgar Allen Poe.

I'm older than most here (when albums were albums). Here are a few classic albums (great collection of songs connected by a theme).
Jethro Tull - Aqualung
Alice Cooper - Welcome to my Nightmare
Beatles - White Album
The Who - Quadrophenia
Eagles - Hotel California
and ALL Pink Floyd albums.

nah, never heard of them. They arent like the typical death metal are they?? I'm a little picky on death metal, too much of it that i have heard sounded the same. I'll check Amon Amarth out cause i'm totally open to new shit.

well that depends on what you call "typical". it's definately not the dimmu-borgir/cradle of filth type singing, if that's what you mean. their older stuff is rather different from their newer stuff, the new stuff has a much more epic and solid sound, though without a doubt still death metal. they're swedish, and mainly sing about Viking's and the mythology following it. I'd definately say though, if you're going to check them out check out their album "Vs. the world", it's god damn brilliant. my favorite songs off it are "death in fire", "Across the rainbow bridge", "thousand years of oppression", and "and soon the world will cease to be".

This is very dissapointing. Does anybody actively search out for new music, rather than have it broadcasted to them on the radio or MTV?Funny you say that. I get all my music recommendations from the internet and friends. I couldn't stand Tool when I was listening to the radio. Not all good bands are underground. It's disappointing you would generalize otherwise. I have a massively eclectic taste in music. ;)
finally a metal fan!

Yes, they're "viking metal" I suppose. they are vikings, singing about vikings, though I don't believe this is a genre in itself.

That's just what I heard them described as. I have a Norwegian friend who is a fan.
Death metal lyrics are generally what you would consider suitable for the soundtrack of a horror movie. :)

for death metal, i'm going with deicide- once upon the cross, the relentless pounding and driving grooves, then glen benton(sp) blows you away with some of the most evil lyrics.......EVER!
pink floyd's dark side of the moon, this album is the best. put together so perfectly the whole album feels like one big song. It cronicles the human life span, money, time, war(us and them),and madness(brain damage/eclipse). this cd never leaves my player, great to get stoned and listen to.
