and increased minimum jail sentences of most crime? Thus, letting the crackheads destroy their own lives but be too afraid of the death sentence to destroy others'? Scaring the coke-heads to death with low-grade electric chair sentences for armed robbery? But allowing the potheads to flourish...

Columbian economy would collapse, Al Quada would no longer exist, jails would loose half their prisoners..

can you believe it.. 2,000,000 prisioners in the USA..

PEOPLE, that is 1 out of every 150 people in the USA is in JAIL... WTF...

What are you in jail for? uh smoking cannabis...

How fucking crazy!!!

and you know what's even more crazy.. our parents think that this is NORMAL.. and ok to put people in jail for burning a plant and breathing the fumes..

no more drug dealers!
no more people killed over drug deals!
no more people arrested for smoking joints, or sniffing coke!
tons of emergency room calls ( you said all drugs right )!

there would be negatives, and positives...

i dont think smoking would be as fun, i mean the first few days after its legalized it would be awesome, but afterwards i think it would kinda get boring

Yeah, parents... My Mother doesn't think that the police should take me away for smoking herb. It's only the people forced to uphold the law. They're trained to take away our freedom, but they're also trained at other stuff, more important stuff. It just seems like their priorities are backwards. I guess a psychiatric clinic in place of a jail, but then how would you deemed psychotic? There'd be problems. I'd say, step up the police enforcement to prevent violence and legalize the drugs.

That's funny.

"Hey, I had a revelation!"

That's what this kid (or guy, I guess) use to say to me all the time in Chemistry class in 10th grade.

Where would the C.I.A. get its funding if there was no blackmarket? :)

Hm. It's hard to say. Amsterdam has seen a decrease in drug use and crime, right? That doesn't necessarily mean that would be the case in America. Different cultures.

you saying you only enjoy smoking cannabis because it's illegal? do you like the risk or the drug?

if they legalized all drugs, the only thing that would change is people going to jail for public intoxication. there'd be a lot more clubs, places to get together and enjoy eachother's drugged up company. other than that, people have been using drugs all throughout history, some influential and some not. perhaps it would end up like amsterdam, like lateralus stated, where eventually the society would mature with the law and the usage of drugs would decrease among the population. i suppose the only way to find out is to legalize them all?

it's my idea man. legalize the drugs, and increase punishment for violence, and effectively double, tripple and even quadrupple the fines for people under teh influences of cocaine, alcohol, and LSD.

Think about it, The United States is 229 years old and so is the Constitution (228).
Drugs have been illegal for 70-90 years. In that time, we've gone through wars like Bachelor Degrees. George Washington would be the first person to march on D.C. when he is released from jail after 3 to 5 years, because he was caught on the street with a dimebag, payed his fines, and then was caught again with a necklace made out of marijuana, after he was released the first time.
