Hey all! I built a 8 pot DWC system and it has about 6 gallon total capacity. I'm using a 1/2 oz. per gallon mix of Botonicare Pure-blend nutes'. and the babes are about 8" tall. I'm noticing that in the controll res' a whitish frothy film is turning up...has anyone seen this before? I think ists just waste by-product from the roots...any guesses?

I have had that too before. You're right it is from root activity and your reservoir. What I found to help is using airstones in the reservoir, and keeping ph steady between 5.8 and 6.2. The more volume of your reservoir, the more stable and predictable it will be. 6 gallons seems a little light for 8 plants. I use 5 gallons to my three pots. Get as many opinions as you can. Try asking for Zandor, he's always willing to help.

Thanks storm. Yah I've been thinking that I should get a larger control bucket as well. Shouldn't be too hard in as much as it won't affect the grow tubs. Be cool.

I had a white film on the rez water also, but only in the veg stage because now that it's the 12/12 cycle, this did not appear again. Anyway, it's no major problem

You don't have enough water movement to the by-product from the plant is floating on top. Add more airstones, there should be so many bubbles you can't see the bottom of the res.

Thanks all! Yes I re-visited the control bucket idea and did indeed go to a larger container, approx 10gal, which makes me overall around12-13 gal. I think that a larger controll res' should provide a more stable mix and make the ph and nute' mix easier to control. Ph is now running around 6.1-2... and I'm changing from Pure-blend to Fox Farm Grow Big...just to experiment. Overall i'm satisfied and just waiting untill they get to around 12" before going 12 12..What do ya think??

You should have more stable and steady results that way. It will cost you a little extra in nutes, but fewer headaches. Good luck!!
