View Full Version : My Plan for a Hidden Growbox

OK, I am going to take the chance of growing in the same house as my mother, but I have a good plan.
1) This pot is for personal use and friends use (who do not know I am going to grow) so I don't really have to worry about a drug bust and dealing and shit....
2) We live in the middle of f*ckin nowhere (curse word to emphasize that I live pretty far out)
Those are the two main reasons I have decided to grow.... Now on to the plan....
I have a big trunk that I am going to put the plants in in the back of my closet... When I am not at home I am going to keep it locked and it will be my night cycle, but when I get home I will do the day cycle...
To keep air flow in the trunk for the night cycle I am going to drill holes all through out the sides, top and back of the trunk, and put fans on each side.
Well, that will be my growbox... The chances of my mom going through my closet during the day are very low so I figure I can get away with this until they grow to be taller then the box, then I have no idea what I am going to do... But I am also going to lock my door during the day... Do you think that the holes (if I drill enough) will be sufficient? If not can you think of any other ways? Im tired of having to buy and the market here is always up and down...

I'm planning on growing a closet also, just for ease, but I don't live with my parents anymore, I moved out, but my mom is still a nosy so and so, and will undoubtedly pop round, so I too am gonna use precautions.
Your precautions tho are valid, but not practical.
How tall is this trunk? 4 foot high?
Because thats how tall your plants are probably going to grow, then they are going to be maybe 1 foot wide, so your going to need a trunk 4x1 JUST for the plant.
Then your going to need a light, an ordinary bulb wont do it and even using a small fluro, your going to need more than one in there.
Lets face it, you locking your closet, with 2 fans in there, isn't going to be suspicious?
So you take the fan's out for safety reasons.....
Then there's no wind, the stalks are going to be as thin as a toothpick, and there won't be any circulation, so your plants will die due to lack of Co2.
Also, plants need "relatively" regular patterns, for example, you can't have 12 hours dark/light one day, then 18/6 the other day, unless you don't want your plants to know what day of the week it is, so they will never veg and subsequently never flower.
I know your saying your going to move them from the box, but they won't have light unless you put lights in, and then if the box is literally TINY, the heat would be too much.
Not trying to ruin your dreams, but it actually take quite a bit of planning if you want to grow them properly.
See I had the plans, and not the finances, so my plants are all spindly, fortunately, thanks to saws advise *plug THANKS SAW!* my plants are probably gonna pull through till next week when I get me a HPS.
Not being negative, but with what your saying, those are the problems I see with your plans.
I'd be happy to discuss what I know with my *so far* limited knowledge about closet growing.
EDIT:
After reading your post for a THIRD time, lol, (half asleep)
If your going to lock your room, then dont bother with the grow box, because it's just going to complicate things.
If you can lock your room virtually all the time, get some ozone bulbs which your getting already (read another of your posts) and just grow in the closet, not in the small box. It simplifies things, provides greater air flow naturally, allows the heat to dispurse from the lights, if there is any, and wouldn't limit there growth.
 :D

EDIT 2:
LOL.
If you live in no mans land, then growing outside would PROBABLY be easier, seeing as there isn't a large amount of people about, the sun is the best light you can get, and its free, no need for fans, or odor removers, but the only problem would be protecting from wildlife and what not.
If you wanted complete control of your plants(and this includes when it buds etc etc) your going to have to go closet growing or find somewhere else to grow in your house like the basement or something or maybe off your premises in someone elses house or something, but that would just overly complicate things.
If your going to closet grow, I can help a bit by telling you as much as I know about it, albeit not very much, but hey, it's a learning process right? ;) :D

Tennessee isnt a good place to grow outside I think, the weather is unpredictable pretty much...

Then your going to need a light, an ordinary bulb wont do it and even using a small fluro, your going to need more than one in there.
Well, the lights... I am getting 4 Ozone Fluroscent Bulbs (here (http://www.ozonelite.com/)) and I will have a timer on the lights just in case I am not there, in which case I will leave the trunk open and unlocked...
Lets face it, you locking your closet, with 2 fans in there, isn't going to be suspicious?
My fans are not loud at all... My closet wont be locked, it will be opened and my door locked...
How tall is this trunk? 4 foot high?
My trunk is really large, like 5 feet long... and I stated that I didnt know what I was going to do whenever they grow beyond that...
That was just the outline of my plan, I have all the details worked out except for some, I am pretty sure that I can get away with this, if you would like to discuss this more then just email me

Oh don't say that. hahah, I am just another grower like you, with a few plants in the closet. Well a single plant, after an unfortunate bloom of 90% male plants. I just love growing and studying cannabis. :) Marinesf22, how many plants are you planning to grow, and what type of soil medium are you going to use?

I am going to use Pro Mix for my soil, and I want to be growing around 5 plants at a time over the next few years (just when I run out you know?) Do you think 5 plants is enough to get at least 2-3 females? Any user tips I havent seen to get females more times?

You can never really tell how many females you are going to get. It's pretty much a gamble. I had 9 of of 10 males in my last batch. With soil, I personally recomend against premixed potting soil with added chemical fertilizers. You can easily mix your own and it will be much much better. Check out the link to overgrow for some good soil mixing advice. http://www.overgrow.com/growfaq/t89 :)

Heres something Ironic (not trying to be a smartass) I got the idea of that soil from a grow forum, but I can't remember which one, if I find it I will show you the text, thanks for all the advice Sawleaf, I think I am going to have a good expieriance growing....
