i was watching the news the other day. they were covering a story on the kamikaze bombers that blew up three hotels in jordan. my mother was questioning why they would sacrafice their own life to destroy others. i tried to help her understand that it's because of their faith in God. they believe that God tells them to commit these "wrong" doings, as in america with the christian faith, they believe that God is talking to them also. although most christians aren't out there killing hundreds and thousands of people, it brought upon the question, "who's right?".
can someone really hear the word of God? do we even have a clue of what God really wants for us? just because a person is faithful does that mean that their motives for mass destruction, or preaching the word of God were given to them by the Lord? or could it just be their subconcious hatred is being confused as the word of God?

Yeah, really. If God created us all, why would he order a suicide-bomb attack?

Cause God's favour is a good argument to have when you're trying to convince people to do what you want them to.

In it's time "With God On Our Side" was a tremendously powerful song......and at the end, you can just detect God's Sense of Humour.
At the end of the day.....if there ever is one.....I'd like to think

that is a very powerful song.
the question still stands: what does God want from us? the word of God can't be spread through the vessels of man, because well, we're just too sinister. ladies and gentlemen, we have ourselves a conundrum.

ever stopped to think that some people are just really racists towards certain countries so they say that their god will do this and that if they give their life to rid the world of "whatever name they use to call americans/christians"

Although it seems War has endured the History of Man, stop and think of peaceful civilizations. Then, think of when you're friends are over hanging out, smoking Herb. Why can't we bridge the gap?
Because Herb is outlawed in between.
Einstein may have been a stoner, but the decision for this picture was definitely not made by stoners.

the problem is that people carry things off in God's name. the reason that the kamikaze bombers are doing those things isn't directly from God. it's just like the crusades when the leaders of it justified their war and gained followers by putting it in God's name. God didn't tell all those people to fight, it was man. same with the kamikaze bombers, they're convinced that what their doing is completly right, it's from the leaders of the groups, like osama. religion is used to mask and promote their cause.

How do you know that God didn't tell them? You can't prove that he didn't. If God chooses to speak to some people, and not others; only the people he speaks to are going to know for sure. Schiznophrenics could be talking to God, or they could just have mental disorders, you never know.

Although this brings on a strange point, why do we believe the people in the bible were talking to God, or doing God's will. But if people say they are talking to God, or doing his will now, we assume they are crazy, and should be commited, or arrested?

I don't believe in God, so I'm not worried about it, but for those that do, think about it.

I've heard that it's because all the Bible Stories match up, or something like that.

That's what has always blown me away about the Bible. Why hasn't there been a Bible II?

You know, Part Two.

Or should I say Part Three. The Neo-Testament.

kamikaze bombers, suicide bombers...same difference. exactly, amy. man is God's interpreter. man reads from bible, interprets a meaning from a collection of words and spreads that meaning into other peoples minds - and calls it the word of God. i guess the whole point here would be to read the bible and try to develop your own interpretation, because surely no one will be wrong.

exactly. and i think that as you develop your own intelligent interpretation you find the right point.
