View Full Version : Need some advice- 1st time grower
I am a first time grower experiencing some problems with my ladies. I am growing in soil w/ perculite, vermiculite, bat guano, and Miracle Grow soil.
-They are in 5 gallon buckets.
-Water them every 2-3 days
-Use BC Boost, Grow, Bloom and sometime use Scharps Plant food 10-15-10
- About 2 month old
- I currently don't know the PH level of the soil because I don't have a tester.
- The PH level of the water ranges from 5-7.
The strain is Supreme skunk
I am experiencing problems with spots on the leaves, and droopy/purple stems and stalks.
Any help would be greatly appreciated..

hi M10..
got a couple questions for you..
are there holes at the bottom of that bucket?
if you stick your finger 3-6 inches into the soil, is it dry or wet?
every 2-3 days watering seems a lot... but I am not sure how much water you are giving the plants...
red stems can mean a nut deficiency... but the real sign I see is the curling and burnt tips on your fan leaves... I think this is an over dose of Nitrogen... When growing using miracle grow soil, it is always risky to add nutrients.. especially something like bat guano..
there is also another problem.. bat guano is an organic fert.. meaning that it will be a slow release... normally when you iver fert a plant you will flush the soil.. well, your situation MAY be a bit complicated.. cause the more you water your plant the more the NITROGEn from the guano will become available to your plant..
on a positive note.. your plant looks a bit haggered. but IT still looks GREAT.. like a beuatiful women that just drank to much and ell down a couple stairs..
keep us posted..
and all you MG haters.. nows your chacne!! LOL
Thanks for the reply...
Yeah I realized the N deficiency because of the curled tips. I have laid off the N. New growth is better. Actually last night I gave the droopy one some water with BC Boost and Bloom (I am going to put it in flowering stage on Sunday). And the plant is looking as happy as can be..=) So I don't know if the droopyness was caused by lack of water??? Yeah I stick my finger in the dirt everytime before I water and it's always very dry.
Yes I have a bunch of holes in the buckets (on the sides and bottom) and the bucket is then sitting in a bucket with no holes. Should I take them out of the buckets with no holes to the roots more oxygen?
The plant that has the f'd up leaf and the leaf with the spots is a differnt plant than the tall one with the droopiness and purple stems. I have 4 plants going. Just different problems with 2 of the plants.
The guano I'm using is 0-7-0 so there is no N???? It's all P......
These are pic's of 3 of 4 plants I have. Didn't get a pic of the 4th, nothing currently wrong with it plus I think it's a male...

GUANO wiithout N?
impossible i KNOW everything... and it is impossible... right?
LOL
canyou tell me what the brand is... very curious
IS the outer bucket filling with water?
More specifically is the outer bucket filling with water ... to such a high level that the bottom of the inner bucket is actaully in water? If I say take it out...
Really I should just keep my mouth shut.. your plants look great... tell everyone on here what you did.. and we will start copying you!!
I can't resist... you have a great plant, the size of the buds will be heavily dependent on how much light you can get to the plant... so get that light as close as you can without burning the tops.... you can do the hand test
put your hand underthe light at the top of the canopy and if your hand can stand the heat, so can the plants.. increase airflow and bring the light down!!
thaks for the pics
It's a product from The Guano Company called Budswell, for fruiting and flowering plants. It contains earthworm castings, bat & seabird guano.
Manufactured by The Guano Co.

No the outer bucket is not filling with water. When I water I only split 1/2 gallon between 4 plants, every 2-3 days. Is that too little??
I'm using 1 400w HPS and 1 400w MH light and they are about 1.5-2 ft above the plant.
Thanks Garden Knowm for the responses. I'm just worried, and want them to turn out.. :D

the worried thing is normal.. especially for your first few grow.. : )
like a first time parent I gues.. you don't want your first kid to smoke weed. and then by your third kid your like "whatever"
hahaha
your watering regiment really depends on your soil mixture and temp.... it is always recommended to flood and let dry... flood and let dry... but some people just water their plants a little everyday.. I think that ,ethod is crazy and is what leads to root bound plants and the need to transplant... if thepot has equal water and oxygen everywhere, then healthy roots can fill the entire pot...
did you mix perlite in your soil? always a good idea.. helps prevent over watering...
your plants look good.. can you post more pics...
: )
