so, what do you all listen to when lighting up? i mostly prefer stuff like bob dylan, the beatles, bob marley (duh) or the grateful dead, but recently i've been listening to some 90s rock (REM, the pixies, nirvana...) and some more ska/reggae/dub/rocksteady stuff. so yeah, i was curious, what's on your stoner mix?

The Mars Volta - Roulette Dares

try that out, if you're not hooked within 60 seconds, ah wells.
if so, i've got tons more recos of their music.

What i do know is that no one in that audience of 7000 at their show was sober. There was a fine haze of smoke over the whole venue.

I'll listen to almost anything. Classic rock, modern rock, punk, rap, industrial, classical, jazz, it's all good. As long as it isn't pop, country or gospel.

I like listening to Grateful Dead, The Doors, Rolling Stones, The Beatles, Cream, Steve Miller, Jefferson Airplane, and Bob Marley. I usually listen to that a lot along with some others. I will also listen to some rap, but not with like the old stuff of course lol, it's a total buzz kill if I were to do that.

when im high in a car with friends i always try to get away with turning it to 100.3 on fm radio, smooth jazz:-) I dont like loud music when im stonned cause I can get headaches most of the time off of it. my friends seem to be scared to take in the smooth jazz even though i know they like it

Oh wicked you listen to Talib Kweli, I like his shit. Do you listen to Blackstar aswell?Great duo. They're only a one album project, though, right?
Anything by Aphex Twin. How 'bout Druqkz? Amazing album. And Richard D. James. All time favorite by him would have to be Cock ver. 10 or Vordhosbn.
The Mars VoltaVery unique band. I enjoy a few of their songs. I'm more of an At The Drive-In fan, though.
I'll listen to almost anything. Classic rock, modern rock, punk, rap, industrial, classical, jazz, it's all good. As long as it isn't pop, country or gospel.Sounds good. I haven't gone out of my way to listen to classical for years, though. Been meaning to get into it and jazz.

Any stoner who's into spirituality, psychology (Jungian theory), and complex, progressive, powerful yet calming music, needs to be listening to Tool. I've yet to find a more inspirational set of musicians. Ever.

Other than that, I'll listen to mostly everything, including electronica (trance, d&b especially, not a house fan, though), rap (Three 6, Twista, Wutang, Psychopathic Records, Jurassic 5, Tupac, etc, etc.), metal (death metal, stoner, groove, etc), rock (Staind, Chevelle, Deftones, dozens of others), punk (Pennywise, Rancid (esp. Skull n Crossbones), The Casualties, blah blah), and a lot more. Did anyone mention Sublime?

Emerson Lake and Palmer are awesome. I don't hear too many people listen to them anymore but they really are great stoner music. Me and a friend were driving through the mountains, going up to Yosemite, one night when we got really stoned and put in Brain Salad Surgery. After a few minutes we ended up just pulling over at a scenic overlook and just sat there spacing out until the cd was over. Great stuff.

Old Pink Floyd is great too. Actually any Floyd is fantastic but something like disc 1 from Umma Gumma just seems custom made for getting stoned to.

:DUnfortunately, I haven't had the pleasure of hearing that one. Maybe they'll have it on LimeWire. :)

I get most of my music from various P2Ps, and every once in awhile I'll come up on an "albumwrap", which is a full album on one mp3. It makes burning CDs easier, but you can't skip tracks.

I usually prefer rap, but I will listen to just about anything. There was a period when I would get blitzed and listen to techno and watch the little winamp visuals while high...ooooh its a trip :) Right now I basically like any south stuff, like Three Six, Lil Jon, 8Ball...Haven't attempted Paul Wall or Bun B so we'll see how that goes.

Matisyahu.I don't care what the fuck you say there is NO BETTER ALBUM IN THIS UNIVERSE to listen to blazed as fuck then shak off the dust and arise by MAtisyahu.Best reggae/dancehall i have ever heard, plus he's jewish. If you havn't heard this guy you can't compete with anything better.

And Mos Deff and Talib Kweli (blackstar) is a phat album!! am i right in sayin they only did that one joint effort album wise?

Ever heard of gurus (from Gangstarr) jazz/rap collabo albums "Jazzmataz" i think there are 3 volumes, i have the 1st 2, but both are definily wikid when blazed!

other than that i pretty much listen to:

Klashnekoff, Lewis Parker, Jehst, Skinnyman, Obie trice, Common, Eminem, Mobb Deep, G-unit, Trick Trick, Bob marley (who doesn't?), Pharcyde, anythin Hiphop really thats decent and not crunk or grime bullshit!!
