I put together 1 male and a female in the same grow room to make my first interessing cross. They have been under 12/12 for 2 weeks or so and the male is already making balls. The female is preparing the buds but no hairs ball for the moment. I would like to let them "have babies" only in 1 or 2 weeks. My question is : is it possible to cut male branches ( that i already did ) and let them dry, drying they will liberate pollen that i will collect, or must i collect the pollen now, or let it go like that like nature do ? Other question : how long does male pollen can be conserved?

Drying won't get any pollen to come out. You must wait up to the moment that the male flower is about to open, (the little bananas will turn yellow). Be very careful as any touching of the plant will cause pollen to fly everywhere. I collect pollen by placing a film canister underneath the pod and cut it off of the plant with small scissors. As far as keeping pollen, I have never kept/used it longer than six months.

once you have collected pollen you wrap it and put it in plastic bag in frig for 2-3 days to extract last bit of moisture(plastic bag will allow enough air to do this), then store it in the freezer...reports say it can last 2-3 years this way...goodluck
