A simple question, it can seem at first
but when u think about it, what is life? only a non-existent period of non-existent time in an infinite universe where time doesnt exist, where we die even before we can think we lived?
something where we work hard all our life to research something we dont even know what it is? something where we are so blinded by todays society that we think there isnt any others option to reach a better lever of happinness?
what is it for you?

We're the only living organisms on this planet that has an inkling that we're going to die. We are the crown of creation. But life is eternal. What is pushing that water up through solid oak into the branches and leaves? Everything is in motion....all the way down to the atoms and quarks and sub-particles. And if there was really a big bang, what in heck was the configuration of the original singularity? And how about those worm-holes and black -holes in space? Do they spill off into other unknown universes? wtf?

I just took a few hits off of a plant I killed last week....so, I probably shouldn't be posting right now.

What? The avatar? That's the inside of a truck. That picture was taken at 70 MPH out on Interstate 80 in Pennsylvania. Penn after William Penn...and Sylvania meaning 'woods', if I recall correctly. The gizmos are just gages...they mean nothing. After awhile, you become part of the machine. You no longer need to know what the RPM's are. And if you lose your air pressure, the brakes will lock up.

This can't be right, or there wouldn't be a self-preservation instinct in other animals.

What is Life?
Something is asking you to ask a higher question which is very good, not depressing. Do not ignore this.
Asking the higher question has always been the path of the philosopher, the detective, the scientist or researcher like Einstein for example.
When you ask the higher questions answers begin to come to you in subtle ways that requires you to lower your physical filters and allow intuition to give you those answers to that you are seeking.
Sometimes an answer occurs in the form of a "yes" or a "no" feeling, sometimes in the form of a memory, or a thought that, at the time, seems random, sometimes in a dream and sometimes in the form of a realization that is prompted by an experience that will occur the next day. No question is unheard, and no question goes unanswered. "Ask and you will recieve" is the rule but you must learn to ask and how to recieve.
This is a complex subject. For me life is: Karma, Intuition, Choice, Intention, Reverence, Illusion, Evolution of the soul, Light as it flows in of and out of the soul
and Authentic power (not the kind exerted over another human being, except as a last resort, of course as in self- defense then power is on your side), and Relationships of many forms.
All of these are what you were truly meant to learn here on earth and what you will take with you to the non-physical world in the evolution of your own soul. You learn these now or you come back and learn these again.
I believe an old soul walks a familiar world and took the physical form to teach from experience. That is how I view people like Christ, Ghandi, Mother Theresa, Dali llama etc. It did not matter what particular religion or spirituality they embraced they all have the same commonality.
You must trust me when I tell you that there is more to life than what is seen in the physical world, don't be misled by the illusion of the personality and the wants and needs of the personality. I have been around multi-millionaires who had everything they could possibly want in the physical world and yet were unhappy. As one told me "I have everything I could possibly want yet I feel like my soul is empty". He was asking the higher question as you.
There will be many tests as you see happening now in humanity. How do you choose to learn? Do you believe that there is nothing you do, good nor bad that goes unseen? This is something that is broad and encompassing of all religions and spiritualities. Also it is important to understand some people will cross your path in the physical world to answer higher questions you have asked.
In a world that understands power as external, the intellect often functions without the compassionate influence of the heart. This creates a situation in which intellectual power is used as a weapon to harm others, to exert will-power without kindness.
It is not natural for us to live without reverence, because that separates us from the basic energy of the soul. Reverence is a perception of the soul. Only the personality can perceive life without reverence. Reverence is a natural aspect of authentic empowerment because the soul reveres all of life. Without reverence the experience of being unempowered can become a very cruel one because a disempowered person is a frightened person, and if a frightened person has no sense of reverence, he or she will harm or kill indiscriminately. Is this not what we see happening in our world? It is not possible for a reverent peson to exploit his or her friends, co-workers, city, nation or planet or to create that karma which these activities bring.
We look upon each other as prey to satisfy our emotional and physical needs. We say its a "dog eat dog world" and that to survive in it we must take advantage of others before they take advantage of us. We look upon life as a contest that produces winners and losers, and we feel no restraints upon us when the needs of other people or other groups threaten us.
As Einstein believed you can not create the energy of discord in another human being and expect it to be balanced. That energy as in all forms of energy will seek to be balanced, hence there is wisdom in the old saying, "what comes around goes around". People just don't understand the full concept. Don't interfer with it.
Every interaction with every human being has a purpose through the souls. Since we cannot know what is being healed through each interaction- what karmic debts are coming to conclusion- we cannot judge what we see. For example, when we see a person sleeping in the gutter in the winter, we do not know what is being completed for that soul. We do not know whether that soul has engaged in cruelty in another lifetime and has now chosen the same dynamic from an entirely different point of view, as for example, someone who needs charity.
I'll touch on intuition for a minute because this is a pretty important concept in life.
When you drop the filters created by the personality and the illusion society creates to deny it, it can really serve you in your answers to higher questions. I will pick just one story in my life as an example out of more than a hundered or so experiences of intuition.
My uncle was dying of lung cancer 5 years ago. He was undergoing chemotherapy. I didn't like the idea of treating with radiation and told everyone in the family so. I even told the oncologist treating him that I didnt agree with this type of treatment because it seemed to be making him suffer even more with burns and vomiting, weight loss etc. Nobody in the family including the Doctor wanted to hear my alternate way. In fact the Doctor laughed at me.
I was angry at everyone that I was being shut out as I had very good ideas which had worked for other Doctors using these methods and nobody would listen. I knew my uncle would die very soon from the radiation as it is such a negative energy for the body.
I was at home alone the next day working on the house, framing, becoming more aggitated the more I thought about it. When I finally snapped and swung a framing hammer through piece of plywood half a dozen times in a fit of rage and completely lost it.
At that instant, in my own internal voice yet not of my own creation came the word, "SHARKEY". That was it. And it repeated thoughout the day off and on. When I got into bed that night the message changed as it was now, "SEND SHARKEY" "SEND SHARKEY". I just didnt know what to make of it. Then I went to sleep.
The next day I went to Home Depot to pick up building supplies. There weren't many cars in the parking lot and I always park way out where there are no other cars because I dont like people hitting my door and I dont mind walking. It was just my truck sitting out there all by itself with a 80 spaces or so wide open.
When I rolled the cart out of the store and looked across the lot I noticed a man parked right next to my truck. He had a truck also and he was standing cross-armed leaning back on his tail gate. This guy looked like the twin of the Dad from American chopper, big, huge biceps wearing a tanktop.
So I immediately became suspicious as to why this guy was parked right next to my truck and standing as if waiting for me to come out of the store. Why didn't he go park somewhere else?
When I got to my truck he said, "nice shortbox" referrring to my truck. He then said, "Hi my name is Paul". I was still very suspicous of this guy. So he started some small talk and said, "Some people say I look like that guy on American chopper".
I said, "Funny you should mention that cause thats the first thing I noticed", he just laughed.
So he's talking away next thing you know he goes into this philosophy about my life and I am talking details about my life that no one could possibly know, and that really caught my attention. Things like "I know what you are going through right now and I realize that you are trying to help desperatly but you need to just let this be". Now why would a complete stanger say that? Strangers just don't say things like that. As well as the other detail aspects of my life which no one not even my family would know were going on in my head.
So he must have talked for an hour while I just listened in amazement. And then he said, "Well my friend I'll let you go as I see you have things to do today". So as he started to walk away to get in his truck I said, "Hey what was your name again?" He come back and said, I go by Paul or Paully but my friends call me Sharkey.
When he said "SHARKEY" you wouldnt believe the look on my face.
So I now understand that the light that flows through one's system is universal energy. It is the light of the universe. You give that light form. What you feel, what you think, how you behave, what you value and how you live your life reflect the way that you are shaping the light that is flowing through you. They are the thought forms, the feeling forms, and the action forms that you have given to light. They reflect the configuration of your personality and your space-time being.
answer your question?

What's that called? The fight or flight instinct? I should have said we're the only creatures that can sit and ponder our own fates and spirituality and all of that.
