View Full Version : Death Penalty for Marijuana??

I just found out something today that shocked the hell out of me. In the United States of America, supposedly the "land of the free," you can get the DEATH PENALTY for nonviolent, victimless crime. Specifically, for the possession/sale of
60,000 kg marijuana OR
60,000 plants OR
60,000 seeds.
Apparently a seed is considered a plant. Foreigners sending seeds to customers in the United States can be extradited and executed. Marc Emery could possibly face the death penalty for his sale of seeds.
I'm trying to find the exact text of the legislation. This country is so fucking backwards.

I would be interested in seeing the text of that legislation since I was definitely not aware that you could be executed for sale/possession of even huge quantities of marijuana. I am assuming that this would affect the entire nation, (i.e. a federal law) so what happens to states that do not carry the death penalty? Overruled? Also, from all I have read so far it appears that the most the US could do to Marc Emery is attempt to put him in jail for life (that is if Canada cooperates and extradites him - which I hope they do not). Marc Emery is a true pot crusader and I think it is quite obvious that his arrest was politically motivated (multitudes of other Canadian seed sellers were left untouched) seeing his outspoken stance and financial power in combating the immoral marijuana laws that pervade our society. Here is a link from his magazine with the latest news ...

It depends on what state they are tried in.

It's part of the Anti-Drug Abuse Act of 1986, I believe. It's commonly referred to as the "Drug Kingpin Act." I've found a lot of sources summarizing the act but haven't found the exact text.
Yeah, 60,000 kg is a lot of weed, but the thing is, this law can be applied to anyone within a conspiracy to distribute that much. Including, say, a truck driver, a middleman, etc. And the really crazy thing is that plants are defined regardless of weight, such that a seed is essentially considered a whole plant. An entrepeneur of a seed-selling business, selling 15 seeds per case, could be eligible for extradition and execution after just 4,000 sales. I'm sure (at least I hope to God) that people are rarely (if ever) actually executed under this provision, but it's still shocking as fuck.
This article drew my attention to the law.

The court system is a criminal when they punish anybody for smoking pot, which is a matter of personal choice and responsibility, not a crime. They are the ones creating this big underground black market in which people are getting killed by turf wars. They're the ones taking everyday non-violent people, kidnapping them and forcing them to live in small confined spaces alongside violent criminals for years on end. And to pay for all this crime of theirs, they're taking money from everybody else by force (taxes).
nah im telling you they cant kill you for bud even if you have 900000,00000 kilos, they only kill people for violent crimes. if this is true im moving to amsterdam, like im not gonna move there anyway.

How many Oz are in 60,000 kg's or w/e it was?
2.112 million oz.
But that's not the point. The fact that you're even eligible for the death sentence for nonviolent crime is the point.

If seeds are *cleansed* so that they cannot be grown, they're legal. Because they're actually very healthy to eat. A handfull of seeds a day is very good nutrition. Haha, no i'm serious! My personal health teacher told me that!
