Does anyone know how the weed we smoke today compares in strength to our parents generation? I've heard old hippies going on about the weed being much more mellow and sociable back in the 60s before all this genetically modified shit came out. 70% of the weed I smoke leaves me feeling sloppy lethargic and boxed and I wanna grow some mellower stuff in my apartment. Does anyone have any advice on the right seeds for this project???????

it's no different now than back in the 60's-70's. although some say today's weed is more potent, we had the same high quality back then...there just wasn't near as much of it to be found. but i'd put up yesterday's red bud columbian, acapulco gold, thai stick, nam/cambodian, or jamaican against any of the best around today.

those talking such trash are probably relying on comparing the quality of bud seized then and now when 30 years ago the majority of seizures involved the old fashioned mexi-brick against what is grown now when even the mexicans are using higher quality seed stock now involving more and more indica's all the time.

i always grow several strains of sativa's and indi's for different moods/settings, and so should everyone, imnsho. but for a lighter buzz, stick with a sativa. they tend to not give the couch lock indi's do but some can bring on paranoia and insane munchies...

Id say its definatly more potent...this past summer, I finally talked my mom into smoking with me; she used to quite a bit back in the day....anyhow, she took only a couple medium sized hits and was out of her mind....she threw up and was so high she couldnt do anything

ive gotten that way before too when i was a much younger smoker smoking too much, so it was really weird to see...but i deifnatly think pots gotten stronger

Yeah, I was never sure if the story about weed being stronger was a myth or a fact but i've heard people who were smoking in the 60s and 70s saying that it is insanely more potent today......maybe I'm just too lazy to do the proper research, but as I said, the weed i smoke is too strong for me and makes me sloppy and lethargic!!!!!!!!

Thanks for the advice Del....., I heard somewhere that Sativa is harder to grow and takes a lot more care? is this true?

my dad reckons when he used to smoke ''grass'', he only ever got leaves, he'd never seen a bud before i showed him one. I told him he was gettin ripped off, cos they're must've been bud around, even back then, but he's adamant that he only ever smoked leaves, and never even heard of skunk! Suppose its all to do with who you know, and who they know!

Is the increased availability of superior strength down to the fact that it's easier to grow in artifical conditions within the actual country where it will be sold...say the US or England.......Does cross breeding different strains mean that more varieties are available than back in the 60/70s thus making it more available??

I want to get to the bottom if this thing because there are a lot of opinionated people out there in the media or in the street who you know are talking bollocks but have great conviction and confidence in the myths that they are creating.

Quick fix, smoke less by mixing your shit with a little tobacco. You won't get completely smashed, just nicely, calmly buzzed. xxxooo

Thanks babyfacedabortion, obviously thats a quick fix that i tend to use but it doesnt totally alleviate any negative affects of the weed. If it gives you that boxed lazy feel, when you dont desire it, then it will still do that no matter how much you put in the spliff (at varying degrees of intensity). As Dell mentioned, I think growing my own Sativa is the answer. That way, I know Im gonna be smoking the weed that I want, but supposedly its harder to grow than an indi strain so that might be a problem

try c99...it's a quick flowering sat that's potent enough...one or two hits would sit well for those looking for a lighter buzz or has things to do. very easy to grow and clone...and bred for indoors altho an excellent outdoor plant too.

yeh standard.
but bud has NOT been genetically modified(well not the shit 99% of us are smoking, although i guess it could be possible) all that has happened is plants get cross bred and people choose the strains with the best qualitys in different areas = some super nice green, but its still natural, and theoretically it would of happened naturally anyway if weed was growing legally everywhere

Good luck finding real C99 beans... Sativas are longer flowering, taller plants and have a lower yeild, starting to see why most commercial weed is indica?
