MH or HPS? White or Chrome Reflector?

High all! I'm upgrading my system and sure what to buy yet. My budget won't allow for much more then a 400 watt system. I have a 4 x 5 closet with fan. Never done the mh, hps thing. Which one do you prefer to use?

Also is there much difference between white or chrome reflector? Any reason to buy one over the other?

And last but not least for this happy, hippy girl in Alaska (at least till I can think of another question) is it worth it to upgrade to a better bulb?

I'd buy a 400W HPS system because I feel it gives you more options. You can buy a nice HPS bulb with an enhanced spectrum for flowering and get a MH-conversion bulb for vegging.

I'm not sure about the chrome vs. white reflector so hopefully someone else will drop in. Though, I like the idea of not using a reflector and just using mylar but I'm not sure how well that would work in your space.

HPS for sure.you could buy a switchable ballast, but they are cosiderably more.Buy a economy ballast(they have a 5yr warranty now), and upgrade to the best HPS bulb. ...Alaskagirl :) I just ordered Kodiak Gold, supposed to be the closest thing to the clone only Alaskan Thunderfuck.
